Mio DigiWalker v2.0 2005 - What can I do?

Sun May 23, 2010 10:53 am

Hello (I now know this is a Mio DigiWalker 269+, but I still don't know how to install Igo8 instead)

My father has an old Mio DigiWalker with a really old map.
I wanted to upgrade it for him, but since I don't even know what hardware it is I figured I should just ask how to do this.

The info I have is the following:
MioMap product info
MioMap CE
Version: 2.0
Date: Sep 5 2005
Time: 11:13:42

(c) 2005 Mio Technology
(c) 2005 Nagivation software NAVIGON
(c) 2005 Map Data Tele Atlas

S/N: L41M5A05854
It seems to be using Win CE .NET 4.2 Core

How do I go about this? :-)

A "Mio Digiwalker" is vague, too little to give a personal advice. Mio did produce some nice devices and when sold with a navigation program, called them "Digiwalker". Problems is that "Digiwalker" could mean a PDA device or a PNA device. Neither should have problem running iGO8.
Can you at least figure out if it is possible to run an external program and run it of an sd card?

Also, what is the screen size? Any model # that you can find?

Thank you for your responses.
I found the manual and the original CDs.
It is a Mio DigiWalker 269+.

I had my father buy a 4GB (SDHC) card and tried installing MioPocket-something, but I never managed to "unlock" it with the two-button trick.
It always complained that there was "No DM on HDD or SDD".
After I left, I remembered that I hadn't tried one last alternative of renaming the AutoRun.files to OscarDM...

Anyway, I think I understand that now that we know it is a 269+ it is possible to do some nice things with it. :-)
I just don't know the best way to go about it.

Upgrading Mio 269+ to Igo8 with 2010 maps

Sat Dec 18, 2010 8:01 pm

Hi,
I just, after a couple of days surfing the net, upgraded and installed Igo8 with the latest Teleatles 2010 on it.
You don't need to unlock if you only want to use it as a GPS

Here is what you need to do:
1. Upgrade your ROM firmware (install V3 but watch out for the brand of touchscreen; either Hitachi or NEC)
2. Now you can put any kind of navigation software on your SD card as long as you have the correct structure.
3. Create a folder "Miomap" on the root of your SD card.
4. Install your Navi Soft in this folder.
5. Rename your .exe file to "miomap"
6. Insert the SD card and Hard Reset your Mio 269+ (switch on the back OFF/ON).
7. Your Mio will install the new software in the background and you will have the same startscreen as before but when you hit the navigation button your new software will start.

Hereby the procedure for iGO.8.3.4 and new maps Teleatlas 2010 :

1. Create Miomap on the root of your SD card and install your entire IGO8 in it.
2. Rename your IGO.exe to miomap
3. Modify your sys.txt

[interface]
skin="ui_igo8"
resolution_dir="320_240"
vga=0

[rawdisplay]
class="landscape"

[debug]
skip_eula=1
enable_roadshadow=1
smart_2d=1
slowsim=1
loop_sim=1

[map]
auto_nightmode=0

[msnd]
msnd.start=0

4. Install your Teleatlas maps into SD card/Miomap/contant/map
5. Insert your SD card into your Mio269+ and Hard Reset it
6. After the restart, your menu will look the same but after you started the navigation you will get into the IGO8 menu with 2010 maps. You will have to performe some setup like the language, voices, ....

Success and if you have any questions, just let me know.

Thanks for the reply but I think that the sep1i post has already been solved a while ago. Nevertheless your information is good.

Hi Guys,

Could anybody give me a working link to rom update files, since the offical mio site's support section is not working properly and I cannot download these files. Maybe some instructions how to decide witch rom to use besides serial number identification? (as far as I know this method also needs the mio site to work) Thanks in advance!!
