I probably just forgot to change it, sorry :)

Dear Dalanik, thank you for a great programme. From you manual:
'Chip icon let's you set RAM used for storage. By default it is set to 1Mb (of 64),
By increasing storage memory, you make more space for applications to store their temporary
data, but they have less RAM in which to execute. In my experience, 1Mb (minimum) is just
enough for storage, so more RAM is available for programs.'
I have a 128Mb unit running iGo8 with dem files. For 128Mb unit do you know what the optimum setting would be ie change from 1Mb to eg 4Mb? Also, when I select one of the ram storage memory settings it doesn't still highlighted. Does my selection save when I turn the unit off and on or do i need to change it each time? Thank you

It shouldn't make a difference, 1Mb should be enough - I used all the programs for CE devices and never had any problems with storage memory.

You should be able to see it in a bar on 2nd "info" screen:
3848

Dear Dalanik,
Out of interest I changed it to 4Mb (shows as 3.8Mb on screen) and the dem files on screen moved alot smoother when driving. I did notice though that when on the default 1Mb that it only shows as 348 (or something) kb which is a third of a Mb.
Kind regards

As an update I think I may be right. I've used the sat nav the last few days on routes with lots of hills etc and with the ram setting on 8Mb the landscape runs with the dem files as smoothly as when the ram was 1Mb with no dem files

Nice find! Will give it a try!

Hello,
I m hoping for some help. Am really struggling getting Mio Moov Spirit V505 (EU/Britain) to load VisualGPS.
All I want to do, by the way, is play videos from SD card. I am happy enough with the navigation system.
I am using method (c). I have copied over the folders Visual.auto and Visual.ins to the root directory of the Moov V505 internal card.
I think the problem I am having is with the line change:
* under [Process1], change the lines: RelativePath=TRUE ProcessFile=SmartST_CE.exe
to RelativePath=FALSE ProcessFile=\\..\\My Flash Disk\\Visual.auto\\auto.exe
* save
If I set it exactly like this to: \\..\\My Flash Disk\\Visual.auto\\auto.exe
....i get startup orange Mio flash screen and nothing further.
If I set it to: \..\My Flash Disk\Visual.auto\auto.exe
....i get startup flash and nothing further.
If =\My Flash Disk\Visual.auto\auto.exe
....i get startup flash, then USB icon screen
If =\Visual.auto\auto.exe
.....back to just orange screen
So the 3rd one seems like its at least not crashing it on loadup.
Any ideas what I have done wrong?

Jeemy, please post your whole original appstartupsec.ini or process.ini (whichever you're changing)

Hm looks fine... try the without the leading \ i.e. ProcessFile=Visual.auto\auto.exe
Wed Mar 07, 2012 6:51 pm
Tried:
ProcessFile=Visual.auto\auto.exe
Went to orange screen again.
I don't know if this is any clue, but once it gets to the orange screen, its effectively in USB mode. If I connect it with a cable to a PC or Mac, it immediately loads as a USB-connected device without rebooting.
Its definitely accessing that line as if I change it back to the original SmartCE line it boots back into the Mio software.
Tried without leading: ProcessFile=My Flash Disk\Visual.auto\auto.exe
Went to USB connection screen again.
Tried: =..\My Flash Disk\Visual.auto\auto.exe
Went to orange screen again
Tried capitalising auto.exe to Auto.exe in case that was throwing it.
=Visual.auto\Auto.exe
....orange screen again
=My Flash Disk\Visual.auto\Auto.exe
....USBscreen again
Thought it was possible that I hadn't copied over the files properly so my next step is to delete and re-create the visual.auto and visual.ins directories. Maybe try the download again....
It also appears as Mio Digiwalker USB Sync when plugged in and I check the USB busses? Is this usual or helpful?
Wed Mar 07, 2012 7:23 pm
If it displays the USB it is usually the sign that it can't find the exe specified file....
Thu Mar 08, 2012 12:28 am
Sorted. I didn't even ask as it seemed a stupid question and I thought I'd followed the instructions exactly. I went straight to step (C) and copied visual.info and visual.ins but did not see above (A), (B), and (C) that you need to copy over the folder Visual itself!
So thank you very much for your time, its working now and I will donate to the cause to say thanks.
One final question - what format video is best and which program most stable? Struggling to make Coreplayer read any m4v or mp4 files just now, be great to know what people are using.
Thu Mar 08, 2012 1:15 am
All the video players are crashing, some before i even try to load a file into them. What a shame...
Thu Mar 08, 2012 7:31 am
Try copying, into the folder of those players following files:
visual.ins\system\AYGSHELL.dll
visual.ins\system\CE6\toolhelp.dll
