Hi dalanik,
Not sure of why the code would cause an exception. The ROM is: C520AUS.V1.995.0044 and the application package (ie. that would be MIO Maps 2008 for AUS etc) is R1.0.07.1117 if that helps.
FWIW I run PockFMS (a flight management GPS system from Europe) on this device. They have their own Auto.exe and it runs without problems. I doubt if they would have done anything special for an AUS device.
I have a previous version of C520 (got it when a friend upgraded his GPS). It's ROM begins R41.xxxx and it has the old miomaps 3.3 on it (I did not upgrade this to 2008) and it works with the Auto.exe.
Is there anything I should be looking at specifically??
UPDATE:
Well, I used all of the MOOV software not just auto.exe, (given you were talking about the 2008 version) and it worked. So it looks like the C520 2008 - C520AUS.V1.995.044 - upgrade actually emulates the MIO MOOV ROM. Problem sorted, just treat the C520 as a MIO MOOV and all is good.
I would have been happy to use the MIO 2008 (although a bit out of date), but it has stupidly IMHO changed the speed warnings to a single absolute value, ie. you can only tell the system to warn when you reach one speed which is useless. In the old version (3.3) you could tell it when a certain number of Kms over the limit for where you are. In iGO you can tell it to warn when a % above the speed limit - nice.
Thanks again......
Cheers,
Kevin

Glad it works for you! As far as navigation is concerned, just use iGo Primo, it's the best. I don't know how good the australian maps for iGo are, but n europe they sure are the best.

Hi all
Just trying to get my head around this. I have downloaded the visual GPS v 112.01 and unzipped. In the unzipped folder I have 5 folders
iGo 8
MioC520
Visual
Visual.auto
visual.ins
also 3 other read files
I have a Navman spirit S505
I have as stated using method 3
backed up my appstartupsec.ini and am able to reconfigure back to normal.
This is what I am doing but must be doing something wrong.
1 copy the Visual folder to my navman root folder (it says Mio Navman S505 (T: )
2 copy the Visual.ins and the Visual.auto to my root (as above)
This is where the problem occurs
I open file appstartupsec.ini in editor (file located at \My Flash Disk\Program Files\Navman\)
under [Process1], change the lines:
RelativePath=TRUE
ProcessFile=SmartST_CE.exe
to
RelativePath=FALSE
ProcessFile=\\..\\My Flash Disk\\Visual.auto\\auto.exe
* save
BUT when I then disconnect it just doesnt seem to boot anything just stays on the connectted to pc screen.
Im not sure if I am putting this path in wrong
ProcessFile=\\..\\My Flash Disk\\Visual.auto\\auto.exe
I assumed the My Flash Disk bit was Mio Navman S505 (T: ) ? or am I wrong?
OR is it just not compatable with the S505?
Are there other files i should be installing on either the flash ot the SD card? I have not inserted the SD card as I am unsure as to what is supposed to go on it. Also where do the iGo 8 & MioC520 files go
Sorry for the really dumb question.
This looks so good I just had to ask

Hello,
If it displays connect screen that always means only one thing: it can't find the program to run. So it is either copied to the wrong place or it is wrongly specified in appstartupsec.ini. By your description, it looks as if you're doing everything correctly, but apparenty you're not. And it is 100% compatible with S505, it has been reported several times. So recheck your config. You do not need the SD card, but it can't hurt to try with empty SD card in the slot.

Try...
ProcessFile=\My Flash Disk\Visual.auto\auto.exe

Cheers for the advice. I still cant figure out what I am doing wrong BUT in sure the problem is the My Flash Disk part. I am usure what my flash disk is?
I hace tried several combinations. When I connect my sat nav via the USB lead to the PC it is recognised as an external drive. OK so far. When I check it says Mio Navman S505 (T: ). Is this the my flash disk part? I have tried with that full inc the (T: ) bit (which I actually figure is just the letter designated to the device) and also without. I just cant figure the My Flash disk bit and Im sure that is why its directing the command to the wrong place
Thanx for the help so far.

My Flash Disk is what Windows CE on your device calls the internal drive, An SD card will be called Storage Card
A typical path on your device would be...
\My Flash Disk\Visual.auto\Auto.exe
\ = Root
My Flash Disk\ = Internal drive
Visual.auto\ = Folder
Auto.exe = File to run
Windows on your PC will see it as an external drive and will name it as such, Unless there is an Autorun.inf. file which contains a name and icon.

Yes, SmartST_CE is the original navigation programme.

Im not the best person to give advice m8 but I have just managed to get it running on my S505 with all the correct screens. There is plenty of room on the internal flash so i didnt bother putting any files on an SD card. I copied the 3 folders as suggested into the root folder and then just changed the file exactly as suggested and it all boots up fine. What I am working on now is redirecting the default GPS icon to run my origional navman program.

Go to SYSTEM screen, press icon/button for shutdown, the screen will open. Press the TAB to go to 2nd screen. Select "all" or "nav" tab to be displayed.
