Running TomTom on Navigon device

Postby Razorblatter » Fri Oct 14, 2016 4:55 pm

I just succesfully updated a navigon device with a TomTom map which was over 7 years old.

Of course the TT Navigator software is also old, about 8 years.
Details as follows:
Code: Select all
[TomTom NAVIGATOR]
DeviceName=NAVIGON KINZIE
DeviceVersionHW=Windows CE 5.0
DeviceSerialNumber=xxx
DeviceUniqueID=xxx
ApplicationVersion=7910
ApplicationBuildNumber=9185

I installed a low level map because that seemed applicable with such old Navigator software.

Is there a way to update this old software so that I can use more advanced map with ALG? Or is this navigational niche as good as dead?
I guess, looking at the map table, that there's not more advanced software version as 7.9xx. So probable I my choice of maps will be limited to the low level maps.

Okay, thanks for an answer to that issue.
Well, at least I've been able to install the most recent map. So little left to complain.

Do you know where the device ID is situated? I see it in the ttnavigator file but I suppose you have to make the file yourself in order to activate the map. Might be useful for other old (Navigon) devices.

You can use the ttnavigator.bif file for activation.

I know and that has been done. But I'm wondering how this file is created. And is the device ID in this file an original ID from the Navigon device? And if so, how do I find it?

In the product info from my Navigon 2110 I find an ID from 32 characters number and letters.
So the TomTom software makes his own ID from 10 characters. I don,t know how.

That is about the same with my Tomtom One. In the hardware info screen from my one the ID has 12 characters and
in the TT software 10 characters and the device, ID has totally different characters as the hardware info screen.
