Go 730 Navcore and Europe map with sd card

Thu Oct 11, 2012 12:21 am

Just checking I have a tomtom go 730 coming, and wanted to make sure I have the correct files for update. I was going to put the new 9.465 Navcore
And western and Central Europe 2gb 895.4438.
I am going to install a 16gb such card in it. Would I load the nav core to the device, then map to sd card, then put fast activate on the device ,patch both navcore and map from sd card, or put everything on sd card and patch ?
I would like to also install premium speed cameras as well, would these go on the sd card ? Or device?
Any input would be appreciated
Thanks

1. Good Choice.
2. To use a 16GB SDHC card requires bootloader 5.5015 or higher.
3. The map has to go on the card. The navcore location is your choice, internal or card, it makes no difference.
4. FastActivate Premium 1.8.9.0 Updated 05.10.2012 has easy to follow instructions.
5. Speed cams go in the map folder. They must be patched. Load them before you patch the map, so both will get patched at the same time.

Perfect, thanks tendriver, would i need a new bootloader for a 8Gb sdcard ? would the bootloader 5.5015 be included in the navcore 9.465 ? , or is it a seperate download? also could you explain what .cab files are that i have seen around on this site.
Thanks

You can check your current BL version in the menu on the info screen or after a reset by turning the on and holding the start button in as soon as you hear the drums.
At some stage Home should have installed the 8.351 NC and I assume your BL is fine.

Ok, thanks Downunder35m, when i get the 730 i will check for version number, on the info screen, and go from there.

Could you guys clarify what a .cab file is ? Is it the Navcore file?
I will keep you updated on how it went.
Thanks

I was going to wait until you had the 730 in your hands, before we addressed the BL issue. But since Downunder has commented on it:

1. All of the larger SDHC cards require 5.5015 or larger.
2. No. None of the recent 9.4XX navcores include a BL. The current BL for a 730 is 5.5120. As Downunder said, if the 730 navcore is current, it's BL should be OK.
3. In the TomTom world, .cabs are compressed files that are downloaded directly from TomTom.

DeviceVersionHW=GO 730
BootLoaderVersion=55120
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9465
ApplicationVersion=1074274.1
CurrentMap=Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB_895_4438
CurrentMapVersion=895.4438
TTGO.BAK:

The ttgo.bif looks good.
Disregard the 3 "Not Founds", they don't apply to your setup.
Is your 730 up & running with this setup?

1. Great!!
2. Good plan.
3. Don't waste your time. Speedcams in France are no longer an issue.

You are Welcome. Enjoy!!

New here and just saw this post. I had problems in France with the later navcores. TomTom somehow seem to block poi warnings around known camera sites. I think you need navcore 9401 or earlier to allow camera warnings to work.

Please Note it is illegal to use Speedcam files in France as of 01/01/2012. TomTom has replaced the speed cams with " speed zones", which are legal & can be used with any 9.XXX navcore.

I am aware that using accurate speed cam warnings is illegal in France. Most French databases like TomTomMax and SCDB have now got danger zone warnings which are legal.
The problem is that in the TT 7xx and 9xx with navcores newer than 9401 these don't work, as the navcore seems to blank them out.

On the French forums this is spoken about quite often like here at TomTomMax:
