Just out of interest, I have been using 9.205 with a One XL for quite some time. Then I wanted to install a map of Europe that is too large for the internal memory, so I thought to move it all onto a 2 G SD card. Lo and behold, it hangs just after the startup screen. I re-loaded the SD card with 8.01 Navcore and it works OK. I surmise that the memory access on the SD card is too slow for the 9,205 Navcore.

Speed should not be an issue.
To move data from one SD to the other it is best to use a card reader, first backup the original to the PC, then copy from the PC to the new SD.
This way the system does not loose files on the way, also make sure to show hidden and system files in the Explorer, otherwise not all files are copied.
There must be some other reason why your backup has not worked, a one-on-one copy will always work as the data is the same.

Yes, I did all that, the only thing I could think of was speed of access.
Navcore 8.01 - which is the last one recommended for the One XL works OK but 9.205 doesn't, although it works from internal ram. Otherwise, a puzzle.

1. Did you patch the 9.205 ttsystem file or use a pre-patch version?
2. All of the 900 Edition Europe maps are over 2GB & require bootloader 5.5015 or higher, plus a 4GB HDSC card.
3. This is not the cause of your issue.

I would not have thought so, but what else could it be?
Well, it has me puzzled. If I put 9.205 on the SD card, it fires up OK and displays the map, but as soon as I touch the screen it locks up and needs a reset to get going again. The same s/w running in internal ram works fine.
I patched it with Fastactivate, both the map and the system. The only map I have loaded is New Zealand 900.4602 which is only about 30 Mb.

Might be a long shot but did you use the SD for other stuff before using it for your TT?
Also 2GB SD cards are available as pure SD and as "semi" SDHC maikg them incompatible for some devices.
If in doubt use the formatter from SDCARD.ORG and do a quick format with the standard settings shown when the formatter starts.
I would try a different SD to rule out problems with the current one ;)

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have tried two different SD cards, both the same brand though (Emtec). They are marked SD with no sign of HC anywhere. Also. I put Navcore 8.01 on one of them and it does work OK. It has to be something to do with the software, I think! Somehow, it just doesn't like being run from an SD card.
Edit: An update.
I happened to be in an electronics store this morning and they were having a sale where I saw a 2GB SD card for $5, so I bought it. It's a different brand to the ones I have already. I copied the TT files to my computer again and then copied them to the new SD card. It works OK!
And yet there should be no difference between the old and the new. (Shrugs shoulders and moves on).

Thanx for the update. I have run across several defective SD cards. They have all been cheap off brands.

hi all
i have a problem with my TT.
I had this navcore 9101 working on my tomtom, but suddenly stopped.try do a restore from a backup that i had. unsuccessfully. cleaned the TT, put the navcore manually, the map also, used the fast activator,no way, used albert's easy activator and nothing, tried other navcores from other forums, all for the bootloader I had in the gps 5.5250, until I saw that the bootloader and Device ID was changed too.here are the configurations:
1:
TomTom One (TM) (c) TomTom 2003-2010 Build N/A
Hardware type-TomTom one
SubID (feature) 0 1:00 (000000000000000000)
Bootloader version:5.5250 clist#342886 RVCT
Checksum:9CB8
Memory:32MB, type:MSDR
CPU ID:32412003
Clocks:264.0 132.0 64.0
.................
Device ID:XXXXXXXXXX(the only one albert's easy activator recognise)
and some other things i think irrelevant
2:
Hardware type-Tomtom one
SubID (feature) 0 1-00 (00000000.....00)(same nbumber)
Bootloader version-S5.5256 clist#349457 RVCT
Cheksum-C9E7
.................
Device ID-XXXXXXXXXXXX
I do not know how this happened, but now will not start at all.
I've tried with navcore 9026 with SE_ttsystem from this forum and still not working.
