Go920 official upgrade to v.9.40 killed maps N.._Am.._2GB_45

Postby iom » Mon Feb 13, 2012 9:54 pm

SORRY for all the hupla. After many tries - just junked the 8GB card and bought the new one. All works fine now.
So it was some kind of error on the card.

I recently downloaded via Home2 to update to firmware to version 9.40.
Now I cannot start from the SD card os. And both maps that previously worked - now give error message:
"Problem with map. You cannot use this map on this device:"
I have the following maps:
Western_and_Central_Europe-298 880.3811
North_America_2GB-453 880-3811.
both 880-3811
What to do?

1. I have the following maps:
Western_and_Central_Europe-298 880.3811
North_America_2GB-453 880-3811.
both 880-3811
2. What to do?

1. You have the wrong 880 map versions for your 920. You want 880.3810 for that unit.
2. You don't mention patching the new 9.400 navcore.

Patching? I did run the Autoactivate on the SD card. Did it do it?
What do I need to run to accomplish this.
Thanks for the tip to change to 880.3810 - I will do it - but wanted to report that they worked previously with 9.205on this device.

You need FastActivate Premium to patch the navcore.

Not a problem. Follow the FastActivate Premium instructions carefully & patch the maps. If the maps are on a card, you also need a copy of your 920's ttgo.bif file on that card when patching. Look for a .meta.dct file in the map folders to confirm that they have been patched.

Please stop telling us piece...
Running FastActivate is not enough, you have to patch the Navcore and if not already done acivate the map - press the first 3 buttons!
And if you want proper help than you have to help us to e.g.: by posting the correct error messages from the devices instead " I cannot run ANY maps including the original maps tha came with the device.".
Can you mechanic tell you what's wrong with your car only from your info that you can't drive with it? ;)

Dear Downunder35m, I think you missed my very first message at the begining of this thread. The error message is: "Problem with map. You cannot use this map on this device:"
after which it gives the name of the map I try to open.

I removed the card. Rerun the Fastactivate premium first 3 left buttons. I got it working. So now I have the Go940 with official firmware 9.400.851694.1, OS 802398 dated 2/1/2012, GPS v1.20, Boot 5.5120.
It does work with original, as bought, NA map v.815.2019, W&CE v.815.2003, Guam 710.1576.
On the SD card I have Navcore 9.205.547817 and maps 880.3811 (NA_2GB and Europe) and some other maps. They used to work when the Go920 had original firmware. But after it got upgraded to v.9.40, when the card is in I am getting the above error message on all maps including all those that work when the card is out.

With the card inserted, it becomes the default system, running 9.205. It appears that this navcore did not get properly patched.

Download, unzip & copy the 2 pre-patched ttsystem & PNDNavigator files onto the card, overwriting the current ttsystem file. Disconnect & reboot.

Maybe I should be clearer.
The card with properly patched 9.205 with the 880.3811 maps on the card and the 815.2019 815.2003 maps on the Go920 worked fine.
After Go920 got the 9.400 the problem started.
With card I get the error message "Problem with map. You cannot use this map on this device..." for maps on the card and on Go920. Without the card the 815.xxxx maps run fine.

You suggest that I download stuff - could you provide link please.

Maybe I should be clearer.

Indeed being clear on things helps a lot.
If a map does not work if installed correctly there are only two possibilities :
1. the Navcore is not patched
2. the map is not activated

I had no problems patching the 9.400, so I suggest you check the activation of your maps and patch the Navcore properly - or use the link Tendriver already provided in his last post.

Go here: TomTom Current Config for newbies {29.09.2011} Read the instructions. Run this for both the internal & SD card. Post the results for both here, please.

You have the 9.400 on internal and SD - there is no 9.205 installed.
So I suggest to check the activation of your maps and to (re) patch the Navcore(s).
I don't know why anyone would still use 815 maps instead of current editions.
Please confirm you have a .meta.dct file inside every map folder.
