How to install a navcore?

Postby DanGLing » Wed Apr 25, 2012 7:12 pm

I've searched for a description of this procedure and am unable to find one. The navcore I have is a cab file and there are no cab files showing on either my device or in Tom Tom Home.

Let me qualify that statement. The (Russian?) site for the automatic updater refuses to let me download using the free link and I refuse to pay!

Obviously, I'm a noob. Please help

Go here: TomTom Current Configuration {29.09.2011} Post the results here. What .cab file do you have?

9.401.2 has been superseded by 9.430.2. To install either of these, unzip the .cab & copy the files into your device overwriting any common files. Patch the navcore & map with FastActivate Premium found here: AutoActivate & FastActivate 1.8.8.5.

OK I did that and here's where I am now: The device keeps rebooting itself, original maps no longer work, and Home reports this:

ERROR: 573/#[Please Register or Login to download file] Error from server: You have an invalid version of the TomTom application installed on your TomTom device.

TTGO.BIF:

To prevent the TT Home invalid version error
Open the ttgo.bif file with Notepad.
Replace lines 9 & 10 with these:
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8010
ApplicationVersion=9369
Save this change by clicking "File" in the upper left corner of windows explorer, then "Save as" ttgo.bak. At this point, there is only a ttgo.bak file in the root, no ttgo.bif.
Disconnect & reboot. Now you will have a ttgo.bak, a ttgo.bif & a ttgo.ori file in the root & no TT Home invalid version error.

No ttgo.ori

Trying to use device after map upgrade to 865_3261 presents me with
1. Legal Notice screen
2. Voice not available
3. None of available voices can be used with current language.
4. A short wait and then reboot and start all over again

Ran HOME and received error message 573 again. Restarted HOME and pushed abort button and was then able to set home location and plan routes.
Next I copied old voice folder to device and resolved that issue.
I disconnected and tried using device again:

Now map of what I assume is Times Square, NYC is there and Richard announces "You have reached your destination",(I never planned that route.) statement of poor GPS reception even when outside with clear line of sight in all directions and the reboot loop continues.

865.3261??? Current map edition is 885.XXXX. Copy everything on your one, except the map folder, into a folder. Zip & upload it. Post the link in a PM.
