I have just purchased a Garmin 1200T from Amazon both because I wanted to see how TMC Traffic compares with HD Traffic and because
Garmin's maps now cover Iceland whilst TomTom's don't and it was only 59.95GBP

However at the moment TomTom hold patents that mean they have a monopoly on mobile phone movement based HD Traffic and Traffic warnings are one of a Satnav's most important features to me.

I am just rather disappointed and surprised at how many ragged edges TomTom's Navcores have for a company of its apparently prestigious reputation.

I will just be running it alongside the TomTom on longer journeys to see which system proves to be the most accurate. I liked the look of the Garmin 1690 but couldn't justify buying another unit with an ongoing annual subscription fee for the traffic information.

You should try the 9.205 navcore it's good and you'll keep the stuff you want. If you don't like it just put your copied files back on your unit and it will be back the way it was. tendriver won't lead you astray.

Which TomTom are you currently running Navcore 9.205 on? Is it a Live unit with HD Traffic? Also which SIM card does your unit have in it? The one in my 940 is type 00.01.04

My concern is with the fact that some v9 Navcores don't work at all with the SIM cards supplied in the x40 series units. Also what about the business with incrementing the bootloader and not being able to reverse this process in some circumstances?

v9.120 seems to be running quite happily on the 750 that I upgraded to it.

Would I gain average speed calculation or trip length recording with the Rider 3 Navcore? Also what about running Joghurt's Height program with this Navcore on a 940?

No I mean the SIM card. Something that the x40 and x50 series units both contain in order to retrieve HD traffic data. In the 940 under Status & Information/Version Information/Network the SIM card Model is reported as 00.01.04 but on a 750 this is reported as 00.01.06_EU This would appear to explain why x40 series units could not connect to HD Traffic under Navcore 9 prior to Navcore 9.058 even though they could retrieve this data under Navcore 8.

Has the Trip Log been removed in the Rider 3 firmware or is the function just not supported on a 940 due to the emulation compatibility? 1. My answer has been NO to this point, because these features are only available with a Rider emulation. If you wish to take a look, load 9.205. Create a setconfig.txt file, open it and type modelid:17. It is a simplified menu.

Is there no way at all to make a 940 emulate the full Rider menus and features when running Navcore 9.205? Obviously I appreciate that if something in the Rider series of TomTom satnavs is reliant on hardware the 940 does not possess then it won't be possible but other than that why should the 940 not be able to emulate the Rider in full when running the same Navcore?

The simplified menu is the full menu.

I install 9.205 in my Go940, I cannot connect to live service now.
