Navcore 9.485 for most devices

Postby dieselman » Fri Apr 05, 2013 8:18 pm

used this navcore 9.485 since you posted it, on two tt one new editions.one with all emus except x50 removed and one with all emus removed except x30. Both work flawlessly and i'm very pleased with their performance.
The only thing i want to ask, is after inserting sd card the first boot is quite quick with the tomtom drum sound, but the second boot takes a bit of fiddling with the on off switch to get the devices to turn on, but after second boot devices start instantly.
Regards.

Is this an issue on both devices or just one of them. Is it a recurring issue or just a one time occurrence?

This is an identical issue on both devices, this only happens with v9 navcores and not v8. It's not really an issue with me, but i lend these out F.O.C. to family and friends and just worry they remove card and can't get the devices to boot up.
Second start is always a bit fiddly if the card has been reinserted but always perfect after that if card is left in place.

"a bit fiddly" is not recognized in TomTom speak!! Could you be a bit more specific, please?

Sometimes it is just weird how many differnt GPS systems people have in use....
Since this Navcore is reported to work just fine and as intended,
plus you can't really give useful info I suspect the problem on your end and not with the Navcore.
After all the help and support you received here I ecxpect a bit more, especially when it comes to posting the necessary details we need.

it takes several attempts with the on/off switch till devices will power on. This only happens on the second start up after inserting the sd card and only on v9 navcores. After the second start devices power on immediately.

1.This navcore works flawlessly as i've already said in my first post.
2.The problem is not at my end, or yours. You know how to modify and post a navcore, and i know, thanks to this site, how to download and install your navcores.
3.This just seems to be a glitch with these devices only and i wondered if anyone had come across it before.
4.You're correct, i've had that much help and support from this site, that i rarely need to bother you these days, as i can usually work things out for myself and probably won't bother you again.

Have you tried an identical setup both internal and on SD?
If you copy the content of the internal memory to SD and the device boots as normal, I could suspect that the Navcore is the problem.
At first start (or when coming from a different NC) the full swap file and all special settings are made.
This should only happen once as usually the Navcore stays the same and in the same place.
Please check what .dat files are present in the root of internal and SD, list the names here if any.

These devices have no internal memory. sd card only, which i think is probably the issue as this identical setup on a tomtom onev3 internal memory doesnt suffer this slight glitch. This is not a great problem to me i just leave the sd card in place and it boots up instantaneously every time after second start. I was only curious to know why this happens and it only happens on v9 navcores and not v8 as i've previously stated.I only ever use Downunders navcores from this site.

Load Navcore 9.430 for most models, if you haven't already tried it.

tried this one as soon as it was posted and tried it again only yesterday, same minor glitch.
Thanks for your input, but don't waste anymore time on this thread, it's not really causing me any problems, I'm sure you must have more pressing matters to attend.
Regards.

My TomTom One New Edition running 9.170SE does the same exact thing.

Mr. Downunder35m, thank you very much for providing me the NC 9.485 DSA.
I was always curious about your modifications.

It worked like a breeze. I did not use the installer but that thing sure looks AWESOME !
Great work. Much obliged.

One thing though. I tried out a few of the skins via the Skin Chooser menu item and although I did see some differences I was wondering if you had the differences described somewhere in some document of post.

I noticed some emu's without TT Services (Start & X20 & X30) or Route Planning (Start).
I used to have no TT Services within the menu of a TT One. Now I understand why...
A schematic overview of differences perhaps ?

Anyway, with the device at hand, a TT One, I ended with 34 - One.
So I guess that makes sense.

About Chinese3.ttf: is this a necessary file for Western usage or can I delete it?

Without a doubt, the One is better than ever !

I did not think a comparison would be necessary as:
a) the emulations for "crappy" devices like Start, XL, ONE are pretty much sefl explaining.
A user can't expect full features if an Emulation for a very limited device is used.

b) most users want to either get the look and feel of a high end TT or use a new NC but keep the menu style and features they know(mostly elderly users).

So for most people only the emulations X30, X40 and X50 are of interest.
For them the main difference is in the support for ASR and the style of the menu.
Since there are some issues with the 3 pane status bar on small screen devices I also offer (manual by changing the reskin file) the emulation 33,
this is a very basic emulation with a 2 pane status ba on all Navcores but also offers the "screen upside down" option in the menu.

Okay, quoted a bit from the TT Rider topic since it concerns this NC:
Thanks to the Navcores with Memory Boost and Hardwired Sound, basically all older Tomtom's can use the latest Navcores and map features, even with LoquendoTTS.[/quote:****]
Does that mean that I can use a (Dutch) computervoice to give me more detailed instructions than regular voices on the TT One ? Like: "After 500 meters take exit 21 Amsterdam"
Is there a tutorial or step-by-step somewhere ?
Since there are some issues with the 3 pane status bar on small screen devices...[/quote:****]
It seems that I got a three pane status bar which is performing nicely now.

Any comment about this: Chinese3.ttf: is this a necessary file for Western usage or can I delete it ?
