I have installed downunder's abfab 9.510 Universal NC for 64 MB devices on a Start ² / Start 10 - 2GB TTS.

I have tried several Go 30, 30, 40 and 50 modulations but although the menu seems (apart from the absence of TomTom Services) to be fine all sounds - speech recorded and tts and all wav's - are completely silent.

When reinstalling the original 9.510 Start software all sound are back again.

Is there something I'm overlooking or anything I can do to get sound with other modulations.
I've done some searching but have found no solution up to this point. Thanks ! :024:

I am going to try this on a TT one, 32Meg (first made I think), choosing the 32Meg version with memory boost. It has been a LONG time since messing with this. I do not think my device does LoquendoTTS voices, only recordings. Will that cause problems for me? I just want to put on a newer map, Navcor, and if I don't brick it by then, attempt to install a SD card. I am not exactly sure if clean formatting the internal memory will brick it or not. And while I am asking, what are the trucker versions? Is it something I would want?

The 32mb versions in my installers support LoquendoTTS.
For formatting SD cards and Flash memory, check SDCARD.ORG for their tool.
I can't answer if you want a truck Navcore - that is something you have to decide.

Doesn't hurt to put in some effort and read.
Specifically the first post of this thread and just follow the link.

Look in Downunder's 124 post, directly above your 125

Hi,

I got a question regarding navcore 9.510.

I am trying to install a new map on my TomTom One 3rd edition (after this: 'TT'). Navcore: 8.010. 32 Mb Ram. The map is probably compatible with this older navcore, but I wanted to upgrade the navcore for maps in the future which possibly won't support this NC version.

At first I tried to install the 'original CAB download ONE/XL models' in the post about navcore 9.510. I copied (and overwrote) all files to my TT root. I patched the map and navcore with fastactivate and it seemed to work. When I turned my TT on, the screen freezes when I try the touchscreen. From the tutorials I learned that this problem is caused by usage of the wrong navcore.

So then I tried the installer by downunder25m. I tried to install the 32mb version to my TT. The installation seemed succesful. I tried to turn the TT on, but it freezed on the black screen with the TomTom logo. I had to do a reset to turn the system off. I replaced my back-upped files for the moment.

Now I wonder what to do. Should I install another navcore? Should I just stay with 8.010 (from the back-up)?

I hope that you guys can help me out :bs_quesexclaim:

If you've got your original backup reinstalled I would remove all files from the root of the device and then install the 32mb installer.
Be advised that this NC will need an extra 100 MB and that might be a problem if you'll want to install a bigger map. If the map you want fits on the TT then you'll be able to profit from extra functionality like ALG.

It is not so that new maps need a newer navcore. A map needs to fit with a navcore.

Thanks for your replies.

Device: TT one 3rd edition, 32 ram.
I installed navcore 9.510 with the installer from downunder. After that, I got: "Done extracting 32 mb devices".

I am using the Western Europe 1GB (however the actual size of the downloaded .rar file is 444 Mb). I unpacked and placed the map directly in the root of my TT. Then I added some speedcams from the offical speedcams page to the map.

I placed fastactivate.exe to the root of the TT and started it. Then I got the message that I had to turn on my TT so certain files could be created. I went through steps 1-3 and also installed quickgps. Everything went well according to the report. All .dct files were created.

I started my TT and this time it didn't freeze at the TT logo screen. I had to configure my TT (language, time etc.). Then I got the error message: "Problem with map. You cannot use this map on this device: Europe_1GB_West-100877".

Questions:

1) Can you tell me what's wrong this time? It looks like the map isn't activated well, while fastactivate did create the .dct file..

2) I also would like the voices in my language. Can I retrieve them from my back-up?

Thanks.. :024:

You did restart the TT after installing the NC?
If not, do that and patch again.

Voices can installed via TTH. But you can copy them too from a backup.

You are aware that Western_Europe_1GB is a different map from Europe_1GB_West?

1 GB maps are meant for 1GB devices and were growing too big. TT has made maps much smaller while maintaining identical names and unfortunately they've often made maps way too small and it can be difficult to get the country coverage you need.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes I restarted my TT after installing the NC. I had to, since fastactivate made me do it to create the neccessary files for patching. Then I patched (steps 1-3). When I got the error about the map, I patched everything again with Fastactivate. It still didn't work.

Got another solution?

I will install the voices with TT home then, thanks.

You're telling me something interesting.. I thought that these maps were the same. My back-up file has "Western_Europe_1GB". What would you suggest me to use instead (and what will be small enough for my TT one)? I need The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France. All other countries are just for convience.

Take a look here: Click!
This should be accurate but I would advise always to check because it is not impossible that TT is still changing things.
You might need to install another map. Which might be a problem with your storage capacity. The problem is bigger if you've installed the 9.510 NC (while you don't really profit from extra map functionality). But it might fit.
Installing multiple maps is no problem but be advised that maps do not cooperate. So if you are travelling from Lutjebroek, Netherlands to München, Germany you will need to know where you'll cross the border. Travel to it. Switch maps via options menu and plan your destination.

Okay, you patched the map but did you also take a look at FA's output? Did it confirm a succesful patch?

I see, thanks for your info. It seems that germany is missing. I can do without it, for the moment. But Will the features for the netherlands be the same for both versions of the maps? So the only difference between both maps is the area it covers?

With fastactivates output you mean the text log that appears right after the patchings right? All patches gave me "OK". I can make screenshots if prefered?
