Ok, it seems you were a bit in a hurry and device had no time to create a proper swap file.
Also the swap is now generated on demand, so a slightly lower Ram level at boot can happen.
Check with a simulation if the device performs normal for a longer route.
If you still encounter problems try the 9.485 installer and select the Memory Boost version for 32mb devices.

OK
Either SD card operates ok, one with 915.111 and the other 905.4799 maps.
As said before while travelling the various alert sounds operate as approaching safety cams etc., but not during setup and the free RAM varies.
You suggest trying the 9.485 installer, the only 9.485 NC I can find is for China.?
thanks

Navcore 9.485 is identical to Navcore 9.465, except China support has been added to it. It is perfectly OK to install 9.485.

I seem to be going round in circles.
I've downloaded various versions of 9.465 CABs from your page 'tendriver' with the Cab files and modified ttgo as instructed, used Fastactivate.
Device starts ok, can read the Free RAM which is lower (at 2.5MB) than when using 9.510. But the quick link images are blank and when the screen is touched to enter the Menu's. The screen greys out, hangs and then reboots.
The same applies with the Chinese 9.485 with IQ as above.
Downunder suggested installing 9.485 with a memory boost version for 32MB.
thanks

You can't just take a CAB and patch it.
This only works if the CAB is meant to be used on that device, especially for those 32mb devices.
There are several installers to choose from and I know they work with 32mb devices, but XL's will always be a bit tricky.

9.485 is 9.465 with China support. It is perfectly OK to use Downunder's
Navcore 9.485 for most devices on your unit.

If you want to lose the China support, you can delete the chinese3.ttf file of almost 17 MB in the root of your device. Especially if you need the storage space.

OK
I have installed both 9.510(32mb) and 9.485(32mb memory boost) on 2 SD cards and the spare ram remains rough the same from 5mb to 8mb. All the poi's are unselected and will select as when needed and only 'Tim's' voice is used.
As the 9.510 has the variable time settings for the safety cam alerts, I'm staying with this and put up with any agro's for now.
thanks

@ dowununder35
Which Navcore v9.510 link do I use to download for XXL540?
Is it the Universal Navcore link or "Here again my installer, this time with the 9.510 NC".?

9.510 is the current official navcore for your 540, so you don't need a modded version. You can let TT Home install it for you, then patch it with
FastActivate Latest Update option 3.

@ tendriver,
I'm going to update or try to update my friends TomTom XXL 540 in about 2 weeks time. His is older with Navcore 8xxxx and Australia Map older then mine.
My unit is identica but current with latest Australian Map v915_5076 and Navcore 9.510.
To confirm, I make a back up copy of his device onto a disc or whatever, then check to see if it's saved. After being saved, do I completely delete all files / data except his ttgo.bif file?
Once this is done, copy all my files / data (including Navccore v9.510 and latest Australia Map v915_5076 except my ttgo.bif file onto my friends unit
Do I still need to use FastActivate to patch the map and Navcore on his device or just the map?
Thanks Bondy99
