Re: Navcore 9.510 with auto-power-on

Because this isn't the right navcore for a TT Start. A Start only works right with his own original navcore or a modded one based on the original.

So download the original navcore 9.510 using TTHome and patch it or look for a modded navcore here on navitotal which will work on a Start.

And of course merry Christmas to you too. :D

Now I installed it to a TT start.
Result : Works fine but no sound, no voice.
Someone has an idea what went wrong ?

If you have a Start 40/45/50/55 or Start², then edit the file "reskin" in the folder "skins" with an editor like Notepad, by adding slf-Self;slf-Self; at the beginning of the string, so that it looks something like this: slf-Self;slf-Self;17-Rider;18-GO x20;25-GO x30;24-GO x40;24-GO x40;36-XL LIVE;37-GO x50

Check if you have a file "suicide.dat" in the root of the TT, if not create an empty file with a texteditor and rename it accordingly.
In most cases that should fix the problem.
But changing the emulation in the skin chooser might do the trick as well.

Hi Downunder35m thanks.. it already has the suicide.dat file in the directory.. and i have tried all the skin in the skin chooser and still the same...is there any version i can install instead of this one? thank you very much...

The others Navcores I provide all work in very similar ways, I assume using the original Start Emulation is out of question, so:
Did you try a clean install?
Meaning delete all from the device to install map and Navcore on an empty TT?
In most cases this fixes any issues that can arise from old, previous installations.
Do you find a watchdogtrace file in the root of your device? If so it is an idication of a shutdown problem, again a clean install should fix this.

My Tomtom 730 battery is almost useless. The 10 seconds shutdown is too long. Is there anyway I can shorten it to, say 3 seconds? TIA.

1. The battery is easy to change.
2. I tested a 720 w/ no load several times. It takes about 5 secs.
3. Like a puter, the more "stuff" that you have running, the longer it takes to shut down.

I would recommend replacing the battery, it is an easy task and a replacement can be obtained for under 10 bucks.
In some devices they are gleud in, but it is just the outer plasic foil, so using a sharp knife and careful work will also remove the battery within a few minutes.
There is no way that I know to speed up the shutdown.

Hi DownUnder35m,

Thank you for your posts!

I am brand-new to these forums, and I am not terribly savvy at programming. My husband and I recently got a TomTom XXL 550TM (an old model, I know). I have been searching the TomTom website forums for updates & fixes to make the device even better. I've read lots of complaints about how the EasyMenu has removed (or hidden?) a lot of the features that used to be easily accessible on other models. I've also read about how there is a way to install a Full Menu so that most of those features come back. Hooray! However, the posts that I have read seem to indicate that newer versions of the Navcore firmware have brought some of the features back (such as "Browse by Text", which is one of the features that I really want to use!) From what I can tell, the "Browse by Text" feature is only available under the "Details" section of Route Planning. Is that correct? Is that the easiest way to access "Browse by Text", do you know?

I used TomTom Home to install the latest U.S. map available, and I have Navcore 9.510 installed. I am nervous about following the instructions for modifying the root files with the codes that are posted on the forums, because I know they apply to earlier versions of firmware, and I know that the newer versions of firmware have restored some of the features that had previously been missing. Unfortunately, I am not good enough at coding to know how to discern which features are still missing and which have been restored by the newer firmware.

Do you have access to instructions/code/downloadable files (downloadable files would be preferable for me!) which will allow me to install more of a complete menu, or even a Full Menu on an old TomTom XXL 550TM which has Navcore 9.510 firmware installed? I've heard that people like the Compass feature... I've also read that when you use the code (or downloadable files) to install a Full Menu, some features disappear (such as the ability to switch voices or the ability to switch car icons), and also some of the features that are restored are missing icons... Do you happen to know if there is a new way to install a Full Menu so that you can retain the ability to switch voices or the ability to switch car icons, and do you know how to associate icons with the newly restored features that are missing icons?

I have done my research, but I am quite confused still. If there is any help you can provide, I will be most grateful! Thank you, DownUnder35m!

Best wishes,
Julie

You can not have everything, some menu items are simply not available or won't function with a custom menu.
Through my installers you can use the latest Navcores in basically any emulation that makes sense for a device.
For most people the X20 or X30 is what they want as it emulates the top range model TT's.
For devices with Sim card and active live services there is still the native emulation.
And if you are scared of loosing something: Make a proper backup using Windows Explorer of all files and folders - make sue hidden and system files/folders are visible.

Welcome to Navitotal.
Have you tried navcore 9.540.2, which is the current official navcore for your XXL 550TM ??
