Hello everybody,
I'm getting lost because of the wealth of information.
I have a TomTom XL IQ Routes with 2 GB flash (+-) and can barely fit the new USA_CANADA-930.5563 map. A meta is known for this map and FastActivate says OK for the 910 dct file and already patched for my navcore, but still my TomTom would say that map is not for my device. I had navcore 9.510. Benelux map 930.5563 worked perfectly.
I thought it was my navcore (per the FAQ) So I tried by replacing with the auto-power 9.510 but my device would reboot after 1 min.
I have now used the universal installer to install 9.510 and it seems to be stable again. But this navcore is quite big, and I read about a smaller 9.510 SE version? But where can I find this one, and will it have IQ routing and lane guidance? I don't use TTS to be honest.
I'm also downloading (or trying to) USA_CANADA-930.5605 but I don't think there is a meta yet.
Please advise?
Thank you for this great forum.

1. It appears that USA & C 5563 has an internal problem. You are not the first member to report this issue.
2. Same answer as point 1.
3. Click here:
V8 & V9 Navcores Iq routing & ALG are map features, not navcore features. There is a map/navcore compatibility chart in All New Maps 930/931.XXXX post 1 or 930/931 Map Collections Only!! post 2. This chart will tell you what map has what features & is compatible with which navcore.
4. You are correct.

Thanks for your reply.
ABout USA & C 5563. Do you think it is a download/packaging issue that will be fixed or is it a problem with the map that won't be easily fixed?
I see there are 2 versions of the Navcore: GO vs LE. LE seems to be half the size. I can't seem to find the explanation about the difference for the 2. I will try a clean install (after backup) with the LE version and then, replace files with the SE ttsystem and then maybe overwrite files with the prepatched archive. After that I will put the file ttgo.bif & the folders voices, sounds and poi back from backup.
Can i use the sirfstar quickgpsfix on this model?
Also, is there an explanation of the difference between x40 and x50 emulation somewhere?
Thank you

I have done as said above, but my tomtom will reboot when choosing some menu items like status and information but also the Help me items.
Also after a couple of minutes in the menu without choosing something specific it will reboot.
Could this be because of the SE ttsystem?

1. I don't think it is a map issue.
2. GO is for the "High end" devices & LE is for the "entry level" devices.
3. To do a clean install is your choice. I always do an overwrite installation. Since 9.510 is the current official navcore for a XL IQR, I would have let TT Home "Update my device" do the installation with the correct version.
4. A new ttgo.bif file is created with every boot of the device. No need to pui an old one back in.
5.The only diffference I see on my 720 is X40 has jukebos but no auto-dimming. X50 has auto-dimming but no jukebox.

Ok solved the reboot issue. My own stupid fault. When you open the original tomtom CAB archive in explorer it shows all the files but not in the correct folder structure. I copied those to my cleaned tomtom flash. After I extracted the CAB first with 7-zip i saw that there was a folder structure.
It's stable now.

correct folder structure???

It shows all the files on the root level no folders called, bin, cp, gns, ...
So all these files were all on my top level of the tomtom flash.

Please post a step by step of what you did that didn't work & a step by step that did work. Start with yiur first strp after downloading the .cab file. I want to recreate the issue for the data base.

1) I double click on the CAB file, it opens in windows explorer, but show all files without the folders they are in.
2) I selected all the files and right clicked and chose COPY.
3) I cleared all the files (after backup) of my internal flash of the device.
4) I right clicked on the internal flash that is now empty and chose PASTE.
5) I placed sounds, voices and a map from my backup back on the internal flash.
To correct my stupid mistake. I went back to step 1, and now used 7-zip to extract the CAB file. This time all the files were extracted with the correct folder structure. I used steps 2 to 5 again.
6) Patch the navcore using FastActivate.

Thanx for the reply. 2 questions about your 1st [failed] attempt.
1. Where was the .cab located when you opened it.
2. What software did you use to open it?
Sun Jun 08, 2014 11:00 pm
It was located on my computer, well actually a network drive on my shared storage.
I did not use any software to open it, just double clicked on it, and inside windows explorer it showed me the contents as you can see on the screenshot.
Windows 7 Pro x64

Now I understand. FFR, you might consider using Winrar instead of 7Zip, which causes problems with the unzipping of our downloads from time to time.

I have read the warning, but did not have any problems with 7-zip yet. But thanks for the heads up. I do not like winRAR because it's shareware.
