Is navcore 9205 still the best running core for TT 720 GO?

No, the best running is always the current official navcore for your device. If you already have 9.051 or higher, you won't see any real difference in 9.205.

hi tendriver

i used the clearflash thing 3 times and it's still the same- the screen freezes when I tap on it, then it reboots itself.

i'm thinking maybe i need to use the original navcore as my friend is getting a bit impatient... may i ask what the current official navcore and the best map for AU is please? thanks in advance.. if you have any ideas about what to do in the current situation, I'm open to more ideas :)

also, if I go back to the official navcore, do I just do as per your instructions in the earlier posts?

thanks :)

I have used 9.051 on my 510 and 930 and both work perfectly.

Hi and apologies for "stealing" this thread. :)
Before I ask any further questions, could you please advise how to find which version of the TT I have. I have found "GO730" next to the reset button, but there;s also "GO520 next to the SD slot. I think this is 730, but would like to confirm it.

Maps are quite old and I wanted to ask what I will gain by installing latest navcore (I have 8.351) and what is the best navocore that can be used on this device.
My second question is regarding maps. I have downloaded new maps (Western and Central Europe 2GB 875.3675), but these are not designed for my device, so I would like to ask how to check that maps will work on my device.
Thank you

1. Go here: TomTom Current Config for newbies Read the instructions, then download & run the app. It will show you the model. Post the results in this thread.

2. All of the W&CE maps are 2GB+ in size & will not fit on your internal storage memory. You will need a 4GB SDHC card. You want full featured W&CE 875.3613.

Thank you.
Yes, mine is 730. Here's log from the tool you mentioned:
TTGO.BIF:
DeviceName=TomTom GO 730
DeviceVersionHW=GO 730
BootLoaderVersion=55120
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8351
ApplicationVersion=9982
CurrentMap=Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB
CurrentMapVersion=800.1762
TTGO.BAK:
Not Found...
TTGO.ORI:
Not Found...

I will download maps 875.3613 and install it onto 4GB SDHC card (I already have one).

Could you please just let me know what I can gain by installing latest navcore (new features, less memory use?)

Thank you once again

No new features. With 9.051 & above there is an increase in free RAM.

I have downloaded and installed map as advised.Then I tried to patch it (ttsystem/PNDNavigator) and actvate it ("Updated meta date is 25.09.2011"), but when trying to switch maps on the device, I;m getting "You cannot use this map on this device".... Is there anything I'm doing wrong?

Update: Looks like meta in FastActivate is older than my map, but new file mymeta.txt with new meta doesn't help.

1. Excellent.
2. Excellent.
3. Meta.txt is current. Excellent.
4. OOPS. Your new map has not been patched. You can confirm this by not seeing a .meta.dct file in the 3613 map folder. This file is created by the patcher. NO .meta.dct file, then NO patched map.
5. You probably forgot to put a copy of your 730's ttgo.bif file onto the SDHC card along with the new map, before you ran FastActivate. Correct this & rerun the FastActivate map patcher.

Hi and thanks again.
I have found that the META in the activator is older than the map meta, thus could not activate it. I have tried creating new "mymeta.txt" but it was still trying to connect to internet database (without any success).
The ttgo.bif is on the device (root), new map was on the SD card. So this was the problem.
I have finally ended up patching it with easyusetool frontend_Patcher and now it's working fine. Map is enormous and takes much more time to find a route but when running it's ok. I will also download UK map so that it's easier to use when n the UK.

1. The original FastActivate meta.txt is dated 27.08.2011, which could be older than your map. The updated FA meta.txt dated 09/25/2011 is certainly newer than your new map, so FastActivate can't be blamed for not activating the map.
2. Just as I suspected & alluded to in post 57.
3. How you finally got it patched is not as important as the fact that you did get it patched.

It was trying to download new meta, but either couldn't or the ttgo.bif was not in the correct place.
I did everything as per manual on this forum to activate maps, and there is no mention about where this file should be. Maybe it's worth to put this information as well.
I have managed to patch the navcore with this tool and used easyusetool frontend_Patcher to activate the map. dct-Frontend tab -> ".bif wahlen" -> found ttgo.bif and opened it -> ".meta der karte wahlen" -> opened the meta file ->"meta.dtc erstellen" -> voila!

Thanks once again
