Navcore Version 9.430

Postby Downunder35m » Sat Oct 20, 2012 9:20 pm

Since the 9.430 is not meant to be used on your device it would make sense to have the details in regards to that NC.
And just as a question out of couriosity : how do you plan to use hands free calling on a device that does not have a microphone?

The BEST/IDEAL navcore for any model is always the current official navcore for that model!!

Have you looked at Downunder's 9.430 for XL,ONE and all other models in his Navcore 9.430 for most models thread?

TomTom Start2 and x20 emulation

Postby geonetrix » Mon Apr 22, 2013 5:48 pm

Hi Downunder35m/tendriver + everyone else,

I have a TomTom Start2 (64MB RAM and 2GB storage) and have tried over 50 Navcores to get x20 emulation working properly on it! :wallbash:

Device info as follows:
DeviceName=TomTom START
DeviceVersionHW=START
DeviceSerialNumber=XMxxxxxxxxxx
BootLoaderVersion=55282
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9430
ApplicationVersion=890926.2
CurrentMap=United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland
CurrentMapVersion=905.4754

Thanks to the superb work of Downunder35m, I have got it running (plus sound) with Navcore 9.430XL.
However, I have run into the same issue as another user, sepp69, back in posts #98 and #102.

Using skin 18 (x20 emulation), I can see the following menus:
Menu 1:
Navigate to...
Find alternative
Help me!
Add Favourite
Change preferences

Menu 2:
Prepare route
Browse map
Map corrections
Map corrections (duplicate icon?)
Music and Media

Menu 3:
Help me! (duplicate as already in Menu 1?)
GPS Status
View route
Clear route
Itinerary planning

Menu 4:
Skin chooser

I get the same menus as above with skin 25 (x30 emulation).
However, with skin 34 (x40 emulation?), "TomTom Services" shows up instead of the duplicate "Map corrections" icon so I can configure the speed cameras.

I have tried Downunder35m's 9.430GO and 9.485HS Navcores - to no avail. I also made sure I used the TT Clear Flash Tool before installing Navcores.

After scouring Internet forums for some time, I cannot seem to find any solution. Can anyone help or advise? Or am I going to have to use the x40 emulation?

I appreciate all the Navcore work that has been done over the years!

Thank you,
GeoNETrix

The Start models are far too limited by TT to be really usable.
It is hard to impossible to get proper Navcores working on them.
One thing you can try is to set up the cams and prefs for them and once done to use a different emulation that suits your needs - the cams should stay activ with the selecting warnigs.
Other option for a more simple menu and a 2 pane status bar is to add the 33 emulation to the reskin file.
33-simple;33-simple;.....
It also offers the upside down screen in case anyone would need it ;)

Thank you very much for your prompt response, Downunder35m.

I tried using the simple menu, but the "Speed Cameras" and "Enable Bluetooth" icons are greyed out. Also, the "Skin chooser" icon is missing so I have to manually edit the reskin file.

On the other hand, the speed cameras do appear to work fine in x20 emulation after setting them in another mode.

I purposely bought a Start2 because I thought its specifications (64MB RAM and 2GB storage) were at least better than that of a ONE Third Edition (with half the RAM and storage).
However, I have not had as much grief when finding a decent Navcore for a ONE Third Edition!

Thank you for your hard work on these Navcores!

The TT Team's standard reply when asked which model to buy is:

Look for the cheapest model you can find that has:
1. at least a 4.3" screen
2. at least 64 MB RAM memory
3. at least a 2GB internal memory
4. a SD card slot
5. Uses TT Home rather than MyTomTom.com

As time passes, it is getting harder & harder to find a unit that has all 5 sugggested requirements!!
