Need help- Maps/firmware for TomTom Rider 1...

Postby Dakpix » Sun May 12, 2013 5:48 pm

Hey ya's! A newbie here.

I trolled around this great site and saw lots of information on DL'ing Navcore for my Rider, but couldn't find any workable solution.

I have no back-up and never registered with TT.

I deleted all the data on my Rider 1 (It was stored in an SD card, now blank), TT doesn't support the device, so can't help.

The device is in great working condition.

Anybody have some advice as to how i can get firmware and maps?

I'm USA/Los Angeles.

Thanks!

A simple check of the red sticky threads and our Navcore section would have answered that for you ;)
For all Navcores and maps you will find suitable instructions withing the first posting, for the rest we have the tutorials.
In case there are still questions left we can answer them....

ANY CHANCE - you could isolate (a bit), give a clue. A crumb... as to where the answer lies (as what not as simple to find).

Searching the archives of the forum showed much on Navcore 9.205. After lengthy process of downloading the file- (trying to install with both Win8 and MacOS10.8.3), making sense of patches etc - didn't lead to success.

----Maybe another new user with more patience - can give me an easy link to:
------Where there is a DL for a Navcore that can run my Rider 1?
------A DL for the USA Maps (I will then need when/if successful)?

After a the better part of two days trying various sites- still no luck.

Thanks!

You are obviously making things hard for yourself...
The 9.500 Rider thread of mine has the files (in the Navcore section), and the confirmation that it works just fine on a Rider (in the discussion thread).
All current usable maps are in the 905 map thread.
None of the threads is hard to find and all contain the instructions you might need.
Can't be much easier than that....

WOW- almost thought I had an answer and help.

Darn, psyched out.

Yep - read all the forum info. That's why I wrote the last email, that I'm sure warranted your 'find it yourself' response. Unfortunately, there's a series of versions and files, that didn't work for me (and users in discussion went through same missteps) more hoping it had been perfected.

A file in one place, I can copy to my SD to power my Rider 1 for example.

Perhaps - there is another user who has gone through this lengthy process and can give me a URL or send me the files.

As these instructions were rather convoluted for a simpleton such as myself. And the download scheme, same.

I realize you are a moderator (that I see now), so I appreciate you letting this thread continue and allowing other users to help a fellow traveler even as i see you have done all you can.

Thanks again!

1. Care to define "but couldn't find any workable solution."
2. Sure. Read below.
3. The first 18 or so threads In General Discussions about TomTom are red sticky threads.
4. The previously mentioned, red sticky threads are a great place to find navcores & maps, most of which have instructions included. You also have the Maps v9XX subforum, which has a plethora of maps. You also have the Navcores 9 for TomTom Devices subforum
5. 9.205 is not the current Rider navcore. 9.500 is current. subforum
6. Care to define, "didn't lead to success?"
7. In the General Discussions about TomTom red sticky threads
8. In the General Discussions about TomTom red sticky threads
9. Care to define, "that didn't work for me". We don't post ANYTHING that doesn't work! No perfection required.
