ONE XL S

Postby Blump3345 » Tue Aug 26, 2014 5:37 pm

Have a One XL-S with official Navcore 8.010 and 2GB SD card. Would like to be able to use IQ Routes on this.
What is the best Navcore for XL S that can add IQ Routes?
I see posts about One XL asking about Navcores, is there much of a difference between One XL and One XL S as to what Navcores would work best? I think they are exact same unit, but S adds sounds.

1. Navcore 9.0XX or higher is required for IQ Routes. Downunder has several 9.XXX navcores in the sticky section just above this post, that he has modified for the older units. Take a look at his 9.510 post.
2. The TomTom ONE XL•S was the first product in the TomTom ONE XL range to offer text-to-speech technology, enabling street names and places to be read aloud as part of the spoken navigation instructions.

I checked out the post for the 9.510 nc.
He says "All feedback and discussions about this NC is to be done in this thread : :link:" but the link is dead (this is the link: showthread.php?12862-Navcore-9.510&p=105883#post105883 )

Downunder also has another post "Navcore 9.510 with auto-power-on" and the discussion link in that topic is dead also.

I used the universal navcore installer and put "9.510 for GO models" on SD card (overtop the existing official 8.010 and maps that were on the card). Seems to work ok, but no voices.
Tried installing "9.500 (Rider) for 64 devices" but no voices.
Tried copying Loquendo folder from my old 8.010 backup, but no voices.
I just get "none of the available voices can be used with the selected language". Tried English (US) and English (UK) but same message.
Tried copying Loquendo folder from "Rider NC 9.510Installer1.1.exe" but no voices.
I can't find any backup images of a patched 9.510 install on this site anymore.

Voices work with the original 8.010 navcore. This is a 64MB One XL S.
I am trying for computer voices, like Susan or Simon.

I have a One XL and put Downunders 9.485 for XL models, memory boost and hardwired sound on it alongside 930.5563 map and never had a problem. I have just updated the map to 935.5753 and still running sweet.

I can try that. But someone correct if wrong, the XL has hardwired sound but the XL S can use loquendo, so install is different for XL S?

Thanx for the "heads up". Both links have been corrected

I tried all of the installs from downunders universal navcore installer and his 9.485 installer. I tried installing over previous nc or clearing SD card and installing new. I tried installing voice first then nc. I tried nc and then voice. Of everything, the only one that would make sound is "9.485 full backup for GO models". What is different about this one that it works and none of the others do? Since i also have a GO 730 (which is not patched, I buy maps), I would like to get 9.510 working on this so they are the same (is there a 9.510 full backup for GO models somewhere I could download or could I just copy my 730 onto the XL and then patch it?).
XL S has 64MB ram with 19MB free with a route planned. Voice I was using is Simon, got it from the LoquendoTTS v7 section here.

You should not copy Downunder's universal installer on top of the existing installation (with official navcore).
You can (in most cases) keep all folders but you should remove all files in root of device.

And why do you use the Go configuration and not the XL configuration.
What are the first two digits of your device ID? I doubt that you'd have a 64 MB memory, especially with an official navcore version 8.010.

Blump3345 has a ONE XL-S, which is indeed a 64 MB unit.

Well okay, I've never came across that XL and it also seems to be missing from the device listing [Please Register or Login to download file] .

The first two digits of the model are 4S, I think 4S001, I don't have in front of me, but I remember 4S.
I tried the GO config because none of the others, including the ones for XL, gave sound. The GO backup was the only one where the computer voice worked. All the others let me choose a computer voice, but it was silent.

Don't worry about the model, I know all of what we need.
Are you aware that downunder's mods include the ability to change emus. Set to the wrong emu = poor performance.

Yes, I know some emus work and some don't, but I figure I would just try all until I find one that works. I am just trying to get simon to work, and simon only worked for that one GO backup load, any ideas why?
