Time to Upgrade TT GO 730

Fri Jul 15, 2011 4:22 pm

Hello my gurus,

I got a TT GO 730 app 8.351, OS 315187, with 64MB Ram and I would like to update to a higher navcore. I would like to use IQ routes and all the nice new stuff. Could you gurus suggest the best navcore for this unit, please !?.

Thanks,

Coroiba

The "best" is always the lastest official navcore for your unit. IQ/ALG is a map feature, not a navcore feature. 8.351 will run a IQ/ALG & Cspeech/ASR map. If you want the new looking menu, then you can up to a 9.XXX navcore. 9.205 is a popular choice.

[Please Register or Login to download file] Pre-patched files.

Make a back-up.
Download the .cab & the pre-patched. Unzip & copy all downloaded files to your unit, overwriting any common files. Patch your map. Re-boot. Enjoy!!

Tendriver,

As usual thanks for your wisdom, but this time around something is not working. I did exactly what you told me and when I turn on the device and try to access the menu the unit reboots. I tried several times and so far no luck.

Thanks,

Confirm you patched the map. To do so, open the map folder on your 730 & look for a .meta & a .meta.dct file.

Tendriver,

Both files are present inside the map folder. Waiting for more of your wisdom.

Here are some basic tipps on how to solve that problem if a hard reset (hold reset for 30s) and the clear flash tool won't work:

1. rebooting after a map update or changes to some map related files like POI's.

It is a common problem caused by the file "mapsettings.cfg" in your map folder.
To get a correct version of this file without loosing your favorites connect your Tomtom to
Tomtom Home and use "operate my Go" to manually add a favorite - you can choose any address you like.
Exit and restart your Tomtom which now has a rewritten "mapsettings.cfg" file.
If everything works fine you can delete the newly added "dummy" favorite.

2. rebooting after a Navcore update.

Make sure it is not relatet to the "mapsettings.cfg" (simply rename the file to test it and change the name back if it was not the cause).
Start over by doing a clean install of the Navcore :
Delete the files and folders of the Navcore and only leave the map folder on your device - I assume you did make a proper backup of your working system as mentioned in the Navcore section.
Copy all files and folders for your new Navcore on your device and start it.
If you still get a rebooting problem you might want to try a different Navcore.

Tendriver,

Re-installed everything and started fresh. Solve almost everything. Now when I start home I get this error msg.

ERROR: 573/#[Please Register or Login to download file] Error from server: You have an invalid version of the TomTom application installed on your TomTom device. To use HOME you need to install the correct version of the TomTom application.

Thanks

To fix version error.
Open the ttgo.bif file with Notepad.
Replace lines 9 & 10 with these:
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8351
ApplicationVersion=9982
Save this change by clicking "File" in the upper left corner of windows explorer, then "Save as" ttgo.bak. At this point, there is only a ttgo.bak file in the root, no ttgo.bif.
Disconnect & reboot. Now you will have a ttgo.bak, a ttgo.bif & a ttgo.ori file in the root & no error message.
