Tomtom ONE XL Updated to Navcore 9.205.547817, but bootloade

Sat Feb 04, 2012 8:20 am

A little background info: My TomTom ONE XL was updated via TomTom Home to Navcore 8.010 and bootloader 5.3026.

Following the instructions in http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?2831-TomTom-Automatic-Navcore-Installation

I downloaded SE_Navcore.9.205.547817_32mb_devices.rar and installed. Update went fine, GPS boots up and everything looks fine. Since I wanted to put in newer maps, and all of them seem to be over 1GB, I need to put it on an SD card. I only have an 8GB SDHC.

From what I've read in this http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?918-Tomtom-bootloaders-5.5xx-comparison

I need at least a bootloader 5.5112 for SDHC support on my ONE XL.

According to the post here: http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?5578-Bootloader-for-TT-ONE-XL&p=40688#post40688

After updating to 9.205.547817, I should have bootloader 5.5250. However, as you can see from TTCurrentConfig, I'm still stuck at 5.3026, confirmed the same via the Information screen in the GPS as well.

Can someone shed some light on what I may be doing wrong, that would prevent the bootloader from being updated to the newer one? Thanks in advance.

TTCurrentConfig details:

In the SE_Navcore.9.205.547817_32mb_devices.rar there should be a file "system55250". That is the bootloader file renamed to prevent it from loading unless the user needs it. To install it, delete the 55250 & copy the "system" file to the internal memory & reboot. You should now have a ONE XL that will read a SDHC card.

Thanks for the prompt reply tendriver. However, I'm unable to locate the "system55250" file. I've ensured that my view hidden files is checked and I went through the only zip file within it.

To clarify, I downloaded SE_Navcore.9.205.547817_32mb_devices.rar with a size of 30.0 MB (31,516,356 bytes), extracted it, only contained an .exe file SE_Navcore.9.205.547817_32mb_devices.exe with a size of 30.1 MB (31,643,861 bytes). Since I've already installed it the first time around, I extracted with WinRAR and got 49.4 MB (51,803,887 bytes) from 111 Files and 16 Folders. There's only one (1) .zip file in those 111 Files, so I checked inside that to make sure, but no luck.

Any ideas? Thanks.

No problem. Download the 9.205 .cab & use the system file in it.

tendriver, thanks! I got the bootloader installed. SDHC card shows up. One last question, the ONE XL I have has only 1GB internal memory, and the new map I want to put in is under 1.5GB or so (USA Canada Mexico P 880.3862), but since the internal memory has a USA_and_Canada v710.1575, would I need to delete the maps on the internal memory before loading up the 880.3862? Or is the gps smart enough to use the newer map when both maps are installed?

A XL can only use the internal memory or the SD - not both at the same time like on Go models.

Great stuff, thanks a lot tendriver and Downunder, this forum has been extremely helpful. I only just found my ONE XL buried deep in my closet, after losing it for like 4 years! Glad that it still can be of use now!

You're welcome!
And it might be a good idea to look for a new battery on Ebay ;)

I am using Navcore 9101 on my ONE New edition and the bootloader is 55274. Works just fine. Not sure what the bootloader was before as never had trouble before.

Thank you so much, I have the same situation but my GPS worked fine now. But update new map from V710.xxx up to 885.xxx may be a challenge :D

Never format!
Are the files for the map in a folder or did you copy the map folder into a sub folder?
And you do realise that you have to unpack the map first?
