Not reading enough is the cause of the problem here ;)
And as I said many times before both CE itself and TT for Windows are dead - no support, no development.
Which means it is totally outdated and not worth to have anymore.
For CE there are better options, although the best would have been not to waste money on a CE based device to start with ;)

I've got a 958MB TT XL and the navcore takes after installing 116MB, so it leaves me with 842MB, which isn't enough for any Europe maps. Is there any way to shrink the hole navcore down or to delete some non-essential files (like skinns)?

Universal Navcore Installer hangs

Sat Feb 07, 2015 8:38 pm

I've downloaded latest universal installer and like previous one I tried, after running UNC I get the screen with the music playing but it stops responding. I've managed to get it to work once but not since. Sometimes I can browse the installer options on the left and other times not. Mostly as soon as I click on the screen it hangs - music keeps playing but Windows 8.1 reports it is not responding. I've tried disabling anti-virus and rebooting. Any ideas?

The installer is used now for more than 2 years with no problems reported by users.
My best guess is: Windows 8...
A temp folder is used to store the files from the installer and I assume your is either not being deleted or that your Windows is messing with it.
Running as Admin could help, otherwise it only leaves a corrupt download but in that case it would not work at all.

Question for downunder.

I have a TomTom One XL.

Using UNCI, I've been choosing the Navcore 9.510 for XL series, that's correct right? I have no idea if the OneXL supports LoquendoTTS voices, I assume not.

Which comes to my second question. I've DL'ed your "Australian LoquendoTTS voice" but point #4 in this thread, talks about,
"Download the computer voice of your choice and unpack the CAB file to your empty TT/SD".
I'm not sure what that exactly means, all I've done is extracted the files, and copy/paste the "LoquendoTTS" folder, onto the root directory of the TomTom, along with ttgo.bif, then run UNCI. I assume I'm doing it correctly?

Map I've chosen is Australia_940_5963, and I've used Fast Activate for the GPSFix, and for the Maps.

Unit seems to load, but if I choose emulation 37 or 24, the unit seems to be stuck in a continual reboot, when I first did it, was working fine, but then I connected it to TomTom Home for the Speed Cameras (i found the speed camera thread later), and maybe that did something, so I've repeated the whole thing again etc, but still get the issue when choosing 37/24 skin emulation.

Some XL work on a slightly different hardware and can cause troubles with Navcores.
Give it a test the other way around:
Delete all except map folder and ttgo.bif.
Install the version with Memory boost, copy over the LoquendoTTS folder, add maps, speedcams and so on.
Don't forget to activate map and cams again unless you leave the map folder on the device.
(just making sure here)
Before you start the TT edit the file "reskin" in the folder "skins" with a good editor.
You will there is only one line of text and that the first entry in this line os double.
Replace the first double entry with the one for X30 devices and as in the original make it a double the same way.
Now start your TT and all should work fine, after that emu for the X30, X40 and X20 devices should work fine and you really only need those.

Ok, you seem either have a hard one or something is wrong.
Suspecting the sirst case it would mean your TT can not boot with the selected emulation (the default one from the installer).
Open the file "reskin" in the foler skins with a good editor and change the first line.
It should read something like this:
slf-Self;slf-Self;17-Rider;34-ONE;35-XL;36-XL LIVE;37-GO x50;39-Start;18-GO x20;25-GO x30;24-GO x40
The first entry as you can see is double, this defines the default emulation.
Change your line to this:
25-GO x30;25-GO x30;17-Rider;34-ONE;35-XL;36-XL LIVE;37-GO x50;39-Start;18-GO x20;24-GO x40
After that save the file, if you don't use Notepad++ mae sure the file is saved with no file ending like txt - just "reskin".
If that does not help please delete all files and folders from the device and install the Navcore again but before the first start edit the reskin file as above.

Disregard the "Authorizing" word instructions. Follow the instructions for the capcha in this download.

Hello,
I've installed the correct navcore for my tomtom go 730 + europe 950.6492. Everything works perfect, even the speedcams. Just my RDS-TMC Receiver (wired) don't work. Is that normal? Any suggestions how to make it work again? :023:
Greetings!

Edit: I've tried it inside (with charging cable) and outside the car, and it both don't work.

Welcome to Navitotal.
If you installed 9.510, the current official navcore for your 730, I am curious as to why, rather than let TTHome do it for you & be trouble free.

Hmmm, what do you suggest I should do? I made a complete backup, so normally it should be okay.
I just wanted to start from zero with my tomtom, so I installed the universal navcore installer and the newest maps .... Bad idea?

The majority of the modified navcores are for members with "low end" units. Installing a modified navcore, that happens to be the current official one for your device, rarely gains anything for you & often causes you to loose features.
