Hi,

I have a TomTom Rider V1 (yes the first one) with a previous customized navcore 9.205. I format my SD card to install the 9.500 based on your steps (including voices / TTS folder / maps). All work well except the voice :'(

For the voices, Tomtom said me computer TTS voice cannot be used on my device and I have to chose another classical voice (in voice menu the TTS voices do not appear). I tried serveral times to redo the installation but the result is the same. I used another navcore (for GO) and the voice is usable.

How can I proceed to have TTS working with Rider navcore?

I don,t expect that TTS is going to work on the Navcore Rider.

To my knowledge not. But perhaps there is someone with a solution.

I have installed 9.510 on my TT XL and also TTS. Everything works fine (thanks for that), except the TTS. I can choose the tts/computer voice, but there is no sound. The 'normal/classic' voice works OK. I didnt test it during navigation. When I choose the voice, normally there is a test sound. Like I said, this works on classic voice, but when I choose TTS, I dont get test voice of this.

Do I have to change something to let TTS work or is it just not possible to use TTS on my TT XL?
I have installed XL version of 9.510. Before installing, I have unpacked the CAB file in empty TT first.

TTS file i have used: Dutch-male-Willem.cab (VOICES LoquendoTTS v7 (X30))

Being as you're using an 'SE' navcore, make sure there is no 'ttsoff' line in the setconfig.txt file

hello all

I have tried the navcore installer provided at the top of this thread (9.510).
My device is a TomTom ONE 30 Series, 1GB. Seems like this update did not work (device won't boot anymore).
What navcore version would you recommend ? My original navcore was 8.042, I wanted to update to be able to get fresh maps.

thanks
Tom

Did you install the 32 MB XL version? Otherwise it won't work on your device. What map do you want to use? Only if your map us small enough you'll be able to profit from map features like Advanced Lane Guiding. If you want to use a map which is a 1GB map you won't benefit from a 'higher' NavCore.

hello,

I first used the "9.510 for 32mb devices". After your post, I tried the "9.510 for the XL series", with no more success (device screen keeps orange with a blue bar at the bottom).
I would like to use a recent map for France. My understanding from the compatibility charts was : maps for my initial Navcore (v8) were a bit old (true/false?) and v9 is needed to get most recent maps (maybe I'm wrong?). I don't really need fancy stuff like Advanced Lane Guiding, fresh maps would be good enough ;). Should I try to revert to navcore 8 ?

cheers

You can quite easily return to your default navcore.
Just delete everything from your device and connect it to TT Home. It will offer the original navcore and probably another one after that.

As I said an 'old' nc has got nothing to do with old maps. I'm sure you could use the 9.510 nc but I think you lack practical knowledge of navcore, maps, the relation between the two etc.
Just read some more and get the newest suitable map running on the latest official nc for your device.

Just to add to what Razorblatter has already told you....

The latest France_970_7490 will work with all navcores from 7.8xx and above....and it already has meta data available so you'll have no problems with activation.

hi razzorblatter & fredderf,
okay, as suggested I'm going back to vendor's official Navcore and will try the map you mentioned. Thanks for suggestions.
Out of curiosity : is there a difference in the routing algorithm in Navcore 8 and 9 (except for the special features like IQ routes) ? In other words, can I expect better/more clever route calculation by upgrading Navcore ?
Tom.

No, without an 'IQ Routes' map, they are the same.
