Universal Navcore Installer

The reskin files are exchangable as they only show what is available to select through the menu.
A reskin with almost all emulations looks like this:
36-XL LIVE;36-XL LIVE;slf-Self;17-Rider;34-ONE;35-XL;37-GO x50;39-Start;18-GO x20;25-GO x30;24-GO x40
In this example the XL Live Emulation the default one.
To have the x30 Emu it should look like this:
25-GO x30;25-GO x30;36-XL LIVE;slf-Self;17-Rider;34-ONE;35-XL;37-GO x50;39-Start;18-GO x20;24-GO x40

I'm using this installer first time and I don't know what I'm doing wrong with it.

1. I created back up.
2. Removed all data from device.
3. Started UNCI.exe
4. Selected SW for XL series from menu as I have Tomtom XL.

It has now taken more than 3h to run and process is still ongoing. Everything happens very slowly. I think this is not normal. I interrupted process once and tried again but it didn't help.

Any idea what could be wrong there? Or what I'm going to do wrong?

My money is on you having a slow transfer bootloader.
I do not give help by PM. It deprives our other members of a chance to learn. Please post your issue in the appropriate forum/thread. You will get an answer.

1+
Slow USB transfers are always an idicator of the wrong bootloader used.
Since there are no bootloaders in my installers I suspect you had that problem at least since your last Navcore update that was not done through Home.

Thanks a lot about quick answers! I found bootloader with search from this thread http://www.navitotal.com/general-discussions-about-tomtom-f81/take-hours-copy-800mb-for-internal-memory-t17704.html?hilit=bootloader. Now copying files is much faster.

And one clarification about map installing is needed. Do I need to copy unzipped map as a folder (name Scandinavia_955_6746) to root or do I need copy files from that folder to root? Thanks a lot!

Edit: Or maybe I need to copy map files to Scandinavia folder? I found such folder from my backup.

Edit2: Scandinavia seemed to be correct folder. Now I have run activation. When I try to start device it hangs on start up. Blaah. I'll create still something wrong. There is just Tomtom logo and then nothing happens.

It can be a matter of the installation, try again on an empty device.
First the Navcore, then the folder with the map files.
Do a start, let it complain about the map and after tha activate the map - or leave a copy of your ttgo.bif on the device and activate right away.
If still no luck with the boot edit the file "reskin" in the folder skins so the X30 emulation is first.

I have now tried all you advice. Always the result is same. Start up hangs to Tomtom logo screen. Device said map will not work on my device when I started without map activation but that was expected as you said.

reskin file content is: 25-GO x30;25-GO x30;37-GO x50;37-GO x50;18-GO x20;24-GO x40
It seems that X30 is already in first. So maybe it can't be modified?

Can this be caused by wrong map? I saw there were many Scandinavia maps with codes. I just took one (Scandinavia_955_6746) but wasn't sure if it was correct.

Device info after flashing and activation is:
ttgo.bif:
DeviceName=TomTom XL
DeviceVersionHW=ONE XL (v9)
DeviceSerialNumber=RMxxxxxxxxxx
BootLoaderVersion=0
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9510
ApplicationVersion=1234792.1
CurrentMap=
CurrentMapVersion=0.0

Map(s):
G:\Scandinavia\

Storage:
Size 978MB, Free 584MB

The scandinavia map has a meta code, so it should work fine.
Did get any errors from FA? Is there a .DCT file being created inside the map folder during map activation?
As you have a XL, did you use the XL version in the installer or the normal?
In any case try the other as well as the version for devices with sound problems.
The XL is sometimes a stubborn beast when it comes to unsupported Navcores and a bit of trying is required.

Thanks a lot about your patience and helpful. I was lucky this time.

I formatted device and not just removed all files. Not sure if it was anything to do with it. Anyway formatting device removed extras folder which I was not able to remove manually. Maybe it was because I interrupted installing process once earlier.

This time I also activated only maps (selection 2.) with FastActivate and didn't do anything else.

But anyway, now I have my device updated and I'm happy.

Big thank to you Downunder35m!

One question came to my mind. I have now used this new version two times and SW has crashed. It has happened both times on similar place when I have leaved highway. Can be some other reason too but for me it seems to be same bug in SW.

Is this known issue and is there any way to avoid that to happen? I haven't changed any default settings after installation.

I have installed 9.510 on my One V2. However - "One Emu" is not a skin option that I have available.

Everything seems to work well except for customising the status bar preferences. Ticking and unticking of features don't seem to show or unshow them properly (i.e. ETA, Max Speed etc). I am wondering if it is related to me being unable to select "One Emu"? I am using X30 at the moment.

On big maps, like full EU and with a device low on RAM it is possible that it crashes, mostly when diverting off the suggested route though.
If the version for 32mb devices is installed this should be fixed though, leaving you at least 6mb of free RAM.
If that is not the case I suggest a clean install of all on an empty device - after making a proper backup to be safe.

On small screen devices, no matter the emu there is a drawback with the available status bar symbols - they simply won't fit.
You either have to select less or use the emu for a small screen device, which gives even less options.

Yup - I get that. The odd thing in this case isn't that things aren't fitting but that I can't deselect them (i.e. arrival time - even when deselected it won't disappear) or that the formatting is slightly odd.

Try to set your statusbar prefs in a different emulation and if that works switch back, it should work this way.
