Which navcore and bootloader for TomTom GO Classic ?

Postby evroniano » Wed Sep 25, 2013 1:23 pm

Hi guys !
I've got a TomTom GO Classic with SD card slot.
At the moment the navcore is 8.544 and the boot is 5.5229
I've got only 32 Mb of RAM and only 1.8 Mb are FREE
My TomTom only accepts SD cards up to 2GB.

I was wondering if I could flash a newer navcore and bootloader in order to:
1) be able to insert 4GB SDHC cards;
2) upload maps with IQ ROUTERS + ALG + HNR

At the moment I'm having troubles finding maps for my TomTom since the navcore is really old, at this address
[Please Register or Login to download file]

you can see that the navcore 9.0xx is the next available option in order to get IQ ROUTER + ALG + HNR.

Can I flash that navcore ? Am I going to get some free ram ?

1. Bootloaders 5.5015 & higher will accept SDHC 4GB or larger cards. You already have 5.5229!!
2. Downunder has posted several 9.XXX navcores, modded for 32MB RAM units, in the Navcores 9 for TomTom Devices section.

the first time I booted the satnav I inserted a 4GB SDHC card, yet the second time it showed an error and I've had to use a 2GB SD card ever since.

Yep, that's correct. Make sure that its a 4 gb card SD (not SDHC as most are)
You can find them for sale on ebay from makers 'Starex'
'4GB Class 4 Starex Secure Digital Memory SD Card UK SELLER'

It's running navcore 9.701 with no issues. Parents take it with their camper
to spain/italy etc and are very pleased.

Cheers

What is your current navcore? Why 9.701. Navitotal frowns on advice by PM. It deprives other members of a change to learn. This is a perfect example!! Would you like to share the advice with the other members or are you referring to the advice in post 4??

actually by PM he sent me the very same message that he posted here, just like you he thinks that everyone could benefit from the information he sent me, and that's why he posted it in this thread.
Right now I've got a 8.544 but I'd like to flash a 9.701 or a 9.702 since I'd like to install truck maps.
My boot is 5.5229 and I've only got 32Mb, and with navcore 8.544 I've only got 4.6Mb, I wonder if I'll have still some Ram left when I've flashed the 9.701 or the 9.702

Post the results here.

ok I may be a noob, but not that noob (I hope so), the tool's output will only be what I've already posted here, I guess the bootloader, the navcore, the current map.
But I get all that information in my tomtom by turning it on and entering the system information menu.

1. Your noob status is not in question.
2. But I don't have your TT at hand to get that info.
3. I shall need it now, or I would not have requested it.

I'm afraid I cannot give you the information.
I turned on the tomtom, I plugged it in the usb of my computer, a message appeared, it said "Do you want to connect to the computer ?" and I pressed yes, after that tomtom simply rebooted. That's it.
In the meantime I kept pressing F5 on my computer because I was wondering maybe the device shows up in "My computer" but it didn't, I hope I explained myself clearly.
