GarmanNuvi,
Thanks for letting me know about the map part. Good to know one can get free map updates.
The other problem is the device cant remain fully charged as the battery is either dead or can no longer be recharged.
I have been trying to find out via google how to remove the back case so I gain access to the battery so I can look at the battery specs and order a new battery.
I'm still puzzled.
Edit:
I found the way to get to the battery on that particular device, Firstly remove all 4 screws from the corner of the case and 2 screws adjacent the usb portal.
Carefully use a plastic curles tool to pry open the case.
Battery Specs
T300-3
Li-ion 3.7V 72omAh 2.66Wh
BYD Company Limited
Now I know the specs of this battery, now try to find a new one.
The battery on this device is hard wired and not a plug type.
Cheers

Hi people, I'm back again with an update.
I kept the GPS device on charge for 4 hours and managed to make a backup of the device, as well as copy of the contents.
I have provided a link to the device info as well as the old Australian and New Zealand Maps type.
Itried to use the NavDesk 7.50 to try and update the maps and safety cameras. No Joy, apparently it asks for unlock code.
There is no active subscription for this device, so the old maps will have to stay as is.

Thanks for the asssistance.
This device will be consigned as an artificial reef, the old bloke never had the box with the code required.
