To restore the device you just delete everything and copy in the backup, make sure you copy the files and folders so it looks similar to what was deleted, ie there's not another folder level in the way.

However i would life to check the registry at \HKLM\init\ matches the device i have on my desk, just in case miopocket has altered something and the backup won't start.

If you already know how to do this then post the launch values here, otherwise i will provide tools and instructions on how to do this tomorrow...

If you're at the blue screen with a start menu at the top AND the device connects to the pc then go here and start from step 4...

mio-device-unlock-f140/run-igo-primo-mio-moov-and-navman-series-and-some-t8169.html

Obviously you have to install to a SD card, but make sure you delete any existing files on it first.

Sorry but I can't download the maps, it keeps wanting me to download another torrent player, then join up to watch a video on all three links for the UK and ROI (second page)
do you want me to extract the Files on to the SD card, from the first step 4.

This thread explains downloading and it's problems...

Yes, you need to unrar the files to the SD card, but don't unzip any files within the rar archive.

1 Explain what you did to get a shortcut...
2 On the navman the settings are port 2 and baud 4800, these should be in a file called SYS.txt, but sometimes you may need to make an edit to another file related to the unlock.
3 That looks up to date to me, with iGO you can choose from different map providers, in the UK you can have teleatlas (now known as TomTom) or navteq (now known as HERE), there isn't a "best" one, it's personal preference.

Ok this might be long story for the shortcut,
I did what you said and opened up notepad, and make a shortcut as per instructions and saved the file on the laptop desk top. I then copied it to the navman in the file called "Program Files\Unlock\Desktop folder to have it on your desktop OR Program Files\Unlock\Programs to have it in the Start menu." I copied it to both locations but it still does not show up on the Navman.
How would I do set 2 ?

Does it have .txt on the end, on a windows PC if it's named correctly the extension won't be shown.

Do a google search for "show file extensions"
On the S50 there should be a shortcut called FileManCE in Programs, copy it to Desktop. After a reboot you should see FileManCE icon on the dektop which you can use to run programs.
Download Fatboyfun's WinCE Shortcut Generator from here: [Please Register or Login to download file] extract the files and put them on the S50 and run it using FileManCE to create your desktop icon by following the instructions in the readme file.

Good news I have got the GPS changed so now it works when I switch it on but I am still no further forward with the Desk top short-cut.
I have tried several things like making a short cut from the Primo exe file and cutting and pasting it to the desk top but it still does not show.
I did get the CE File manCE Icon up but that is all, I have checked the file name and it is .lnk, so I am still stuck.
