Thanks much! Could the *.gmap directory also be made available for Basecamp as it is for the Europe NTU 2023_20? I'd greatly appreciate those.

Thanks so much for the prompt response, thumbs up! I do see the gmapsupp.img file posted. I'm assuming that this image file can somehow be mounted or otherwise accessed to obtain the internal files I'm looking for, like the "Product1" or C*_mdr directories I've seen in other releases. I've previously just copied the release directory containing these and other files into my main Garmin maps folder and the maps then appear under basecamp. How do you mount gmapsupp.img files or access their contents? Many appreciations to your support and help!

Just download & copy the gmap folder to C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps as you have before or use the Microsoft Installer (MSI)

Downloaded the latest WinRaR and on trying to mount the image get the message saying "The archive is corrupted or damaged"

There are multiple .rar archives ,the gmapsupp(9945).rar unpacks fine with WinRar 6.2 (64-Bit)
There is no mounting as .img is NOT an image file that needs to be mounted just unpack and copy the file to SD card.

Thanks. What worked for me was the following - gmap folder with MSI for PC.rar

I used the installer after unzipping the above file and then used BaseCamp to transfer the new maps onto my device.

Hi there! Just joined. You guys provide an amazing resource! I work for a large retail chain and a customer brought in their Garmin nuvi 1490T asking for a firmware and map update. We did the firmware update easily enough with Garmin Express but it says he has to pay for a map update but he was supposed to get free map updates with the GPS. Unfortunately he didn't register in the 90 days he was supposed to and got screwed over. He's an older gentleman so i thought i'd help him out and find a free download and update for him. i updated to 2022 files using mapinstall but i was wondering if i could use this update as well?

The nuvi 1490T does not have Lifetime updates only new maps guarantee so using these maps is going to be the best way to help your customer keep up to date.

The .system folder is a hidden folder so set your PC to show system , hidden folders & file extensions .

To avoid anyone overwriting the latest map you are going to install create a folder called Map and place the downloaded gmapsupp.img map file in that folder. I rename it AUNZ.img
go to the .system/JCV folder and place the D2563400A.jcv in there.
In .system folder you will see gmapprom.img this is the old out of dated map ,delete it so it does not show up in the maps list.

Finally if you really want to fully update his device download and copy the AustraliaNewZealandCyclopsSample.GPI to the POI folder

HI there I'm just an old guy trying to figure out how to download the Garmin map of Australia and put it onto my satnav. This would help immensely as my wife and I are going on a once in a lifetime 2 month holiday to Oz later in the year. Ive tried to click on the rar file buit all I get is Oops page not found. any assistance appreciated. Thanks

Sorry I forgot to add. I have a Garmin Drivesmart 61, but I have other older Garmins. So I could put onto any of these. I was hoping to load it onto an SD card and run it from there. thanks

Welcome to the forum, we don't discriminate age.
All the links are working, maybe try using a VPN from your location.
Your DriveSmart 61 would need to be Patched to use these unlocked maps.If you don't want to Patch it tell us what is the older one you would take so we can guide you correctly.

On a FAT32 formatted SD card 4Gb>32Gb.
Create two folders Garmin & Map, in the Garmin folder create a sub folder JCV, arrange the files as below then the SD card will work in either device
Garmin\JCV\D2563400A.jcv
Garmin\JCV\D3532350A.jcv
Map\gmapsupp.img

Just before you are about to leave update Cyclops safety cameras it will save you from getting speeding fines.

Both devices are 5" screens ,the nuvi 1490 is the older device but has a lot more features Hand free calling ,currency converter for example than the basic nuvi 52

I am trying to update the maps in my Honda CR-V SatNav.
Previously, I could download a very large RAR file and then hunt around in there to find a gmapprom.img file and then use that to overlay/replace the gmapprom.img file on the SD card for my SatNav and it would work perfectly but I cannot find a gmapprom.img file in any of the RARS I have looked at.

Can you tell me where to find the 2024.10 gmapprom.img file?
Or can I just rename the gmapsupp.img file - would that work?
