West.rar & East.rar are already unlocked all you need to do is unpack the archive & copy the .img files to the SD card .
What SD card are you using as there is some debate about the size this old device will recognize ,some say 8Gb Garmin says 4Gb ?
My feeling is it is to do with the limitation on SD cards ?

Also ive attempted to just load the Zumo up with the new img on it but I'm still stuck with 2013 maps. Any help is greatly appreciated as I thought I was tech savvy but im lost

I've now managed to get the new map to show in basecamp but it is not showing in mapinstall, map source and Iwhen trying to use the send to device button it's saying there's no data? Where am i going wrong lol

Basecamp is showing the West map from the SD card, Mapsource & Basecamp are not required to be used.Your Device most probably won't have enough storage for even just WEST Europe 3.22 GB
Download [Please Register or Login to download file] it will give you a safe way to remove the old 2013.

I'm using a 16gb SD card, it's showing in base camp but doesn't seem to be showing on the device. Yes I don't think the device does it has a poor 500MB on storage with no SD card.

I have a Garmin nuvi 1490. I am going to Cyprus next week and would very much like the unlocked NT maps for it please?

I have tried the one from opentopomap, but it doesn't appear to be working- do I need to rename the file to gmappsup (or whatever the file name is!!)- it is to load into my microSD card.

It looks to have worked, at first i had the same issue but then downloaded central euro map which seemed to work. So then redownloaded a fresh copy on West Eu and worked a treat. Thanks very much

I want to copy the gmapsupp on a µSD, but there is already a gmapsupp file with OnRoute maps, which I do not want to delete, can I put both on this µSD and how?
I've already tried renaming the existing file to gmapsuppOnroute but the Zumo 660 doesn't recognize it anymore.

on a zūmo 660, use gmapsup1.img & gmapsupp.img for supplemental maps
