you dont need installer
copy unpacked gmap folder to garmin map directory
WIN7/Vista = C:\ProgrammData\Garmin\Map
or
XP = C:\Dokument and Setting\All Users\ApplicationData\Garmin\Maps
If you can’t se the path, then go to controlpanel/Folderoptions/View/Check show hidden files and folders/Apply & OK.

Installed D3060060A.JCV on my Garmin 755T and the Lane Assist view has visual elements missing. Anyone else having this problem?

how come I do not have that folder even I followed your steps about folder options? (Win 7 Professional)

program data is hidden system folder
Make hidden files and folders visible or type C:\ProgramData in address line of Windows Explorer

Is there any unlocked img files available?

It looks like it's more complicated to update than before.
I used to just download an img unlocked file and replace it on my GPS.

Is it still possible to do that?
Can someone help me?

With locked Image (e.g. from #1) it's only one step more:
- before copying the img to device or SD, you have to run Unlocker Alternative or gimgunlock - tht's all!

What's the advantage of taking the Gmap Folder instead of just the image?
