Your problem was caused by you renaming it "gmapsupp.img.img" because you could not see the original extension

The City Navigator North America NT 2020.20.gmap.part 1 through 5 you have downloaded is to use with Mapsource or BaseCamp to create your own maps unpack and place in C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps

The maps you create are locked so you will have to use Gimgum

Sorry I didn't want to steer this thread off topic.

In doing what you've suggested, if I unpack parts 1 through 5 into the same folder then it will ask if I want to overwrite several of the folders and files. It seems as if part 1 has the majority of files and parts 2-5 are mostly empty folders which are already included in part 1. Does this sound right?

No, > put all of the files into the same place > right click one of the files and select 'extract here'

Can you please confirm if the .gma files in the SID folder from nuvi 2595 are required? I assume not, but I have never seen a .gma file for a .sid file so not sure here. Is there some kind of copy protection for SID files?

This is more about devices that are without SD card expansion and limited internal space like a In-dash head unit or limited SD card expansion.

As I said in your post in the 2019.30 version you only need the map image for your device on a >4Gb SD card formatted FAT32

All you need is the N America gmapprom.rar. Unpacked size 2.81 GB (3,026,059,264 bytes)
Unpack with latest Winrar, change its name to gmapsupp and put it into a folder called Garmin on a SD card formatted FAT32

GarmanNuvi, your gmapprom.rar uploads seem to have been removed. Could you please upload them again, maybe to a different site? I'm looking for the North America map, North East states. Also, I downloaded your 2020.10 gmap.rar file and extracted the files, hoping to create my own North East map. Everything extracted successfully, but none of the files will open in MapSource. None of the file extensions match what MapSource needs. What am I doing wrong?

Copy and paste the .gmap folder to C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps and then they will show up in MapSource...

Ah, I see, thanks. After I copied and pasted the folder, it showed up in MapSource. (I had to first quit and then restart the program.

The next thing I saw was that the map is locked. I tried to download UnlockMapSource from several sources posted in the forum, but they all generated popups that wanted to install new search tools, install music players, etc. Is there a clean download link for the unlock program? I also have JetMouse 1.9, but the last time I tried to run it my antivirus (Avast) gave a warning and deleted the program. I recovered the program, paused Avast, and ran JetMouse again, but something then opened and tried to edit my HOSTS file, which was rather disturbing. What is the best way to unlock the new MapSource map?

Are you sure MapSource didn't say "Not Lockable" in Map Product Manager ?
If you create a map with the already unlocked MapSource .gmap folder you downloaded, you do still have to Unlock the map it produces with Gimgun.
As for Pop ups and other offers for other programs,welcome to the world of getting things for "Free" just make sure you use links from this Forum as they are monitored for reliability and removed if problematic.

There is something weird happens to me with tha map I dowload here :
both north america NT 2020.20 ( lower version) and 2019.30 works perfectly on my very old NUVI 860 ( from 2008 !)
I put the gmapsupp.img on a garmin folder on my sd card and all is ok

then I put the same card on my new garmin drive 51 lmt-s and I have a french message said " Mpas are corrupted and can't be used. go to garminexpress.com....."

My old nuvi don't work perfectly ,the tactil screen is not very responsive , ...
that's why I would love to take my drive51 .
it's for an raodtrip from SF to LV and more.

I try to unlock the file with the .exe we all know but still the same message

What goes wrong ith the drive 51 ?
