Download and extract save to ( C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps) and then use mapsource or map install

How to use this with Mapsource for an older unit like Nuvi 24xx without sd card? I tried and the generated map file is simply ignored by the gps when in onboard memory.
Edit: solved that, used 25.10 (probably not the issue) and deleted some extra prom files in .system, also generated slightly smaller file at 3.7gb from the mapset. put that in map folder as per default in Mapsource
Also what about junction view files for this map version?

Edit2: @Garmin_Nuvi why did you lock the "Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2022.10 " thread? I just got that to work and need a junction view file for it. Also as to your reply there I am NOT using SD cards in the old units, it's my units and my/our money and my choice. So looking for solutions to use the onboard ~7gb

What has been shared is the gmap folder for use with a PC.Its output is a custom map file (.img)there are no additional files including jcv, these are only available when updating the device with Garmin Express.
There are multiple sizes & format junction view files each for different group of Auto devices, they are version linked, these are the most common

Please someone kind share 2025 torrent for unlocked IMG file for eTrex, Nuvi, Edge, Zumo Garmin devices.

I have an old Nuvi 255x that I found at a Goodwill for $5.
However, I don't know anything about making your files work on this device.
I also don't know anything about unlocking files, or why.
I added a 32 GB SD card - which opens to mass storage - when I connect the GPS to my computer. I can add files to the storage fine.
Anyway, I just downloaded the City Navigator North America 2025.20 gmap.zip files (3 files) - and I didn't see any .IMG files. Do I have to rename these files?
Can you assist a little?

Edit: I downloaded Map Installer and was able to get this working. Has anyone attempted to see if exFAT works (or works differently) than FAT32? I would like to store other continent maps in the remaining space.
