For a Drivesmart 60, would really appreacte the Foursquare and JVC files and any other files that would be useful for the device as I'm uk based and need the files for North America. Thank you.

Hi, thanks for sharing this. When I download the image files (last link), I get the following folders:

Folder #1: Canada & Mexico NT 2025.10 IMG UnLocked (1.09 GB)
--> Contains the following file: D9644070A.img (which is indeed about 1.09GB)

Folder #2: North America NT 2025.10 IMG UnLocked (3.37 GB)
--> Contains the following file: gmapprom.img (which is indeed about 3.37GB)

Which folder(s) on the MicroSD card do I need to copy each file to?

My two main folders on my MicroSD card are:

Drive 60\Memory Card\Map
Drive 60\Memory Card\Garmin

I have a Drive 60, which currently only has maps of the Lower 49 states, and I am most interested in the Canada maps. I have a 32GB microSD card installed which has over 25GB of free space.

I tried copying just the D9644070A file first to the "Map" folder, but when I restarted my GPS, I got a "Maps are Corrupt and Cannot be used" error message. I then moved it to the "Garmin" folder, and got the same error message upon restart.

Apologies, this is my first time installing maps manually. I was messing around with the BaseCamp software a bit last night, as I needed that to get my Lower 49 states map updated (Garmin Express didn't seem to be able to install to my MicroSD card, and the Internal Storage was full).

Thanks in advance!

Thanks! I will attempt this with a different microSD card and report back.

After the patching process, in which folder do I put which .img file?

Update, thanks to @GarminNuvi and @theob, I was able to get this to work. I did not have to use MapSource or BaseCamp or any other software.

1) I downloaded the Image files (.img), SQLite files, SID files, and JCV files that @theob posted on page 1 of this thread.

2) I then followed @GarminNuvi's instructions to Patch/Unlock my Drive 60 unit, based on the instructions in the thread linked below (I had some trial-and-error here, and posted my notes in the thread). Note that I followed this process with a different, freshly-formatted MicroSD card:

software/universal-firmware-patcher-for-protected-garmin-devices-t17987-1620.html

3) Once the Drive 60 was updated, I then took the 4 types of files from Step #1 and placed them on the MicroSD card in the hierarchy depicted in the post immediately prior to this one. Note that I did not have as many files as depicted in the screenshot. This was okay. I also didn't have a "System Volume Information" folder. This was okay too.

Note: Pay attention to how the folders are nested - I originally had "Map" inside "Garmin", but then reviewed the hierarchy again and realized it had to be pulled out and be directly on the root of the MicroSD card (i.e. per the typical Garmin SD card convention).

4) When I inserted the MicroSD card back into the Drive 60 GPS, I believe I got a message saying that the maps have been updated. I then checked the MyMaps under Settings, and it shows an entry for ALL US, as well as a second entry for "ALL Canada and Mexico".

5) I was able to successfully look up and start navigation to some sample locations in Canada.

I think I am all set!

After struggling to get the "All North America" maps from my DriveSmart 61 copied to my Drive 60 earlier this week, I was happy to get these maps working using the method above.

North America 2025.10 gmap: JCV "smaller" files perhaps?

Postby chiggleryoop » Tue Jun 04, 2024 10:19 am

Hi, You mention in your first page post the larger JCV files, and I'm wondering if maybe I need smaller files instead perhaps? I've loaded the map, JCV, SID, and ASR files successfully onto my DriveSmart 70 (which apparently can use photorealistic jcv): I can successfully simulate a route and the lane assist works, I also can see the bird's eye view purple lane guidance, but I'm not seeing the road signage junction views despite having D9673040A.jcv (786MB) and D9674040A.jcv (81MB) located in JCV/...

I also tried loading smaller files I found, D9675070A.jcv (461MB) and D9676070A.jcv (41MB), but with these two, or with all four, I still don't see the road signage at junctions.

Can you suggest what I might be doing wrong or if I need a different JCV file? Any help is gratefully received!

On your SD card

These latest posts got me thinking that I might not have the correct JCV files for the Drive 60 either. I used the ”Large" JCV files earlier in this thread.

D9673040A.jcv - ~750MB
D9674040A.jcv - ~78MB

Are these the correct ones? If not, which ones are correct, and where can I get them?

I have since learned that there are "Large" full screen JCVs, "Small" full screen JCVs (i.e. lower quality/file size, for older devices), and then "Split Screen" JCVs.

Not sure which ones are the "PhotoReal" ones, and which ones the Drive 60 supports.

Thanks once again!

Is it the error with GMapTool and new maps or there is something wrong with the archive. Can't upload the map to navi.

the path should be C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\MapInstall\Maps\City_Navigator_North_America_NT_2025_10.gmap, I copied the whold directory into the mapinstll\maps folder, then ran the mapsource program, it showed it from the list. But when using mapinstll program to install it , I clicked the area on the map , it has error said can't find the mdr file in the directory. The file is in the folder, but the program can't find it . I didn't continue.
