Garmin City Navigator® Europe NT 2023.10

hi my gps keeps showing "cannot unlock maps" even though the map is unlocked and renamed gmapsupp.img, its a Nuvi 57
any idea how to solve this?

You need to patch the firmware to use unlocked maps.

Read this thread software/universal-firmware-patcher-for-protected-garmin-devices-t17987.html

You will find Nuvi 57 patched firmware in the thread but you will have to search for it yourself

Depends on your device, but there is a KEY showing which JCV to use.

Which files are needed on the sd card of a nüvi 250W
Attached pictures are the existing info from the device. Western is on the sd card and central on the device


In the mean while I downloaded (9139) WesternEurope_NT_2023.10 and replace gmapsupp for the new one but it does not work so I think I have to do soemthing else to get it work.
Can someone help me out ?

First update your Firmware with Garmin Express to use a second map on an SD card

Garmin/gmapsupp or Garmin/gmapsup1

There was a second map on the sd card as you can see on my previous picture.

This is my first time I use Express and the firmware looks up-to-date as you can see on the picture.
I only see the map which is on the device but the map on de sd card

You said

not both on the SD card.

You don,t see the card in express but can you see it in your device. I suppose on the SD Card you have a folder Garmin and the map is in it.
I have a old nuvi 255 and don,t see the map on the SD Card in express but I can choise it in the Device (Nuvi 255).

@Holyhead that is correct, I can see it in the device and so I see one map is on the device and one is on the sd card and the map on the sd card is marked by a X so I think that one is active.

@GarmanNuvi I downloaded JaVaWa and will start it this afternoon
That went fast so this is the result of the manager, what should I do with it ?

Use JaVaWa to delete the OLD 2013 map from the SD card and replace with the latest 2023 with the file name gmapsupp.img .
I would also delete the gmapprom.img on the device as it is OLD as well and just taking up space.

Deleting done but which map should I download ?
Because I download (9139) WesternEurope_NT_2023.10 but that does not include gmapsupp.img but the gmapprom.img
There is 3,63GB free on the sd card and western europe was the map

Yes from new-maps/garmin-city-navigator-europe-2023-t22939.html#p187437
Just rename from gmapprom.img to gmapsupp.img
