Looking for unlocked gmapprom.img or/and gmapsupp.img with torrent.
Thanks.
First you have to install Mapsource in case not already installed.
I use version 6.16.3.
When you run setup it will tell you no previous version found and the installation
will abort.
To overcome this problem first run MSmain.msi which can be found in the same directory as
setup.exe, after this you can run setup.exe and the installation will be completed.
Now to have the option of saving your maps to your harddisk you have to replace mapsource.exe
by the patched version.
Mapsource 6.16.3 with patchSecond you have to unlock the downloaded maps (in case locked).
1) Copy downloaded *********.gmap folder with sub directories to:
XP
%APPDATA%\GARMIN\Maps\*.gmap\
OR %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\GARMIN\Maps\*.gmap\
Vista/7/8/10
%APPDATA%\GARMIN\Maps\*.gmap\
OR %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GARMIN\Maps\*.gmap\
2) Copy unlockmapsource.exe into the above mentioned .gmap folder.
3) Run unlockmapsource.exe as administrator.
UnlockMapSource v22.07That's the whole thing done, you can now open Map source and create your own maps for your Garmin,
no unlock codes, unit ID, map ID or whatever needed (just stay below the 4Gb limit for the map Size).
Ps: Newer Garmin GPS units don't accept these maps any longer after the latest firmware upgrade by Garmin
and the firmware needs to be patched first.
Had this problem with my Nuvi 66LMT, after patching all fine, my Nuvi has Lifetime Maps for Europe but have been using it all around
the World and it's nice to be able to put any map on it with no restrictions.
Firmware patch for Garmin DevicesIt's Fun playing with these Garmin GPS Units (got my first one in 2007)
