Thank you. Is it possible to get West/East region only for older devices (under 2 gb)?

Hi guys!
I downloaded Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2023.10.rar. Inside this .rar file there is gmapprom.img file.
On my Garmin nuvi GPS device there is gmapsupp.img file (on the 8GB SanDisk).
Can this file be replaced with gmapprom.img? Will my Garmin GPS device work?

I renamed the file as you suggested and copied it to the SD card.
It worked! And the version 2023.10 has all the changes in my area (between Mass and Maine) implemented!

Welcome to the forum.
You can change file name from gmapprom.img to gmapsupp.img to place on your SD card. This will over write the existing file

Any change of having a .gmap version available (Locked or Unlocked doesn't matter can take care of that myself), this because one of my Nuvi's (1440) can handle maximum 3.5 Gb with luck, so I need to create my own maps to fit part on internal memory and the rest on an Sd card (external).

Welcome, you will need to tell us what device you have, as the SD card file structure is not the same for all devices

I have nothing on my SD card. I want to install the new North America NT 2023 on my old nuvi 225W,

Most devices support at least one map IMG file, gmapsupp.img, in a Garmin root folder of the SD card, some support multiple <any_name>.img in a Map folder too. The series of nuvi like your 255W doesn't support a Map folder but can use a second separate IMG file named gmapsup1.img in an SD card's Garmin folder provided the device runs US/EU firmware version 7.60 or later. However US/EU V7.50 and earlier only allow one IMG file named gmapsupp.img in the Garmin folder. The file sizes must remain under 4GiB each (no more than 4,294,967,295 Bytes) which is a restriction of the FAT32 files system). The second map option isn't available to any nuvi series 2xx including 2x5W running Asian firmware versions.

My Garmin is old. Model 515. I found older NM maps split to East and West USA. The West would have fit. If I could have downloaded it.

Have experimented. If I rename the new map with the old name. Ought to work. Shoosh NE, CO, Kansas, Iowa. I do not a whole lot.

Downloaded first of the above files. Bloom etc. Any help very much appreciated.

If you have space on the device ,rename to gmapprom.img and replace out of date map

Ahh ! Using calculator. Looked like the new map would fit. No go. The new file is 174mb too big !

Previous post was wrong. Shoosh 515 ? My vintage Garmin is a Nuvi 265WT.

I tried using the memory slot. No go. New map does not show up . I backed up the original 2010 map. Will wait to put it back. Takes forever.

Hopefully. Some new Information. In the meantime. I'll check gwill,Other thrifts. Maybe a newer Garmin. I like the Layout.
