Hi,

You don't have to open the file, only copy it to your computer.

Même souci: les cartes sont vues dans basecamp et pas sur le GPS, un Montana 680...
Une idée pour les afficher sur le gps?

Hi,

Pay attention, it's english forum, you need to write in english.
For your problem, you need to use Imgtool and set the codepage to 1252.

Hello all.

I'm trying to make it work on an Edge 530. Without changing the CP to 1252, the map will not show in the device. But when I change the CP, then all the French characters are wrongly replaced because the encoding is not correct anymore.

Does anyone have some idea about what to try to make it work and not mess with the encoding?

I found the solution proposed by OldMan0815 here and it seems to work for my Edge.

If you can't patch your Garmin, try this method which works on my 66sr:
With IMGTool, open your *, img file, then go to "CodePage",

Check all the boxes and put 1252 and "apply". Close IMGTool.
Put the µSD back into the GPS then turn it on, you will see that your card opens. If it is the English language there is nothing else to do.

For the French language and to see the accented names, you must again take out the µSD from the GPS then open it with IMGTool, you open the file *, img and "CodePage", uncheck all the boxes then check the LBL box then you put 65001 then "apply". Then close IMGTool.
It is finished, put the µSD back in the GPS, turn it on and the map should be displayed with the names highlighted.
Be careful, each time the GPS and internal maps are updated, the above manipulation must be repeated otherwise, the map will not be displayed. This has happened to me at least for one map. To try after each update, if it works without doing anything so much the better.


Hi, I have same issue with an Alpha 200i ... Anyone can help me ? I already try some tests with change CP with IMGTool but ... :thumbdown:

Alpha 200i cannot use these unlocked maps and it's not possible to modify the firmware..
So you need to buy the map if you want to use it on your Alpha 200i or you can use OpenTopoMap.

So when I put the file like that in the 1050, it tells me that the card is blocked but if I change the numbers to 1252 the card does not display anything but no longer appears blocked in the 1050.

Otherwise yes I use utagawa map.
