Look in your garmindevice.xml and tell us what the HWID is
<PartNumber>006-BXXXX-00</PartNumber>
<SoftwareVersion>0</SoftwareVersion>
<Description>ForeRunner</Description>
Then I can download the Firmware to test.

Try changing the CP value

Hi, it’s 006-B4024-00
For reference my friend has a fenix 7 and also has no luck with v3 but v2 works. Only difference is he gets a screen loading then “enable to access file” is displayed
With regards Cp do I select all and change to 1252?
Out of interest what is it you are doing? Spoofing the ID on a different device to gain access to firmware?

The link I gave has this
1 - I downloaded all 12 files
2 - Extracted on my HD
3 - Used gimgunlock on all the .img files
4 - Opened each img files with ImgTool
5 - On the CodePage, selected all
6 - Put 1252 as the new CodePage
7 - Apply
8 - Once I did all the .img files, I copied all the .img files plus the 2 directories sql & sid in the SD/Garmin directory.

No, using a clone device(on SD card) with HWID 4024 and firmware version to zero normally get the latest Firmware, unfortunately not this time which suggests its not Patchable.

Thanks GarminNuvi

I missed the “select all” part, but nevertheless I actually did select all and change to 1252 and abracadabra they worked! Thanks for all of your support guys . As others have mentioned the quality compared to V2 isn’t as good . But can’t complain

Finally got this map working, needed SD card formating as FAT32. Files were visible in the Garmin folder on the SD card when my firmware patched Oregon 700 was connected to a PC but the GPS could not use them. I could not get gimgunlock to work on my Windows 11 PC and ended up using GarminUnlockerAlternativev6.0 after trying others. Otherwise I did the same as Xavier explained on the first page.

Unfortunately I found the map unuseable when zoomed in on my tiny screen due to the maps low resolution. I have since loaded the 2024.10 Europe cycling map -

Cycle Map Europe 2024.10

It is not as pretty but for displaying tracks that are routeable for my mountain bike, it does a much better job. It also shows contour lines, is smaller and easier to install. Maybe a good option for hiking as well.

odd as I have them on etrex 30x, oregon 650 and 750 and find them fine on the screen for navigation and I use them on SAR/MR callouts too. Plus that are on my Fenix watches lol.... Occasionally they are a little blurry (I switch to my maps then) but generally I find them good too go.

Ok so I do have a minor issue with these maps... On base camp I cam see the roads and tracks being shown over the os map yet on the GPS (etrex,30x and oregon 750/650) they don't show... Is this normal if not what could be the issue or how can this be solved??

Street names and POI's display fine btw...

Same for my Garmin watches, and with V2. I wonder if it's to do with routing and not a second road overlay per se?

Hi,

i have an etrex 32x which came loaded with topo maps of Europe. I have downloaded the set of 12 OS maps of Great Britain to an SD card. I have a couple of questions that I hope someone might be able to answer.
Do I put the SID and SQl folders in the Garmin folder too?
What do these folders actually do?
If I use the combined maps from @lohtse will these folders still work?

When add extra maps to my etrex, should I disable all of the other maps on the device? Or should I leave the original topo and global maps on the device internal memory enabled?
Any tips are appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Martyn

@MartynWheeler
my understanding is the SID and SQl folders are routing etc and yes they do stl work with mine for what I can tell, just copy and over write to internal... there is no adverse effects that I have seen.

As to disabling stuff upto you as they can show other paths and more not show on the OS ones... I use the topo and os ones side by side quite often...

PS I did as stated on etrex 30x. oregon, 650. 750 and fenix watch
.

Thanks for the reply.
When you say copy to internal, do you mean the etrex memory? There is very little room on there due to the TOPO Europe maps that came with the device, will they work from the sd card too?

Not enough space!!! eeerm I rarely keep anything other than a base map on internal (unless its a watch) so I have no idea if they would work on sd card(SQL/sid files) you could move a map to sd and problem solved

For the correct folder name for maps look inside your garmindevice.xml at the Supplemental section this will tell you what folder name to use on SD card.
[Please Register or Login to download file]
SID InstaSearch POI Index 79.9 MB
SQL Named Trail Database 9.17 MB
Both of these folders and contents can go in a folder called Garmin on the SD card (Garmin\SID and Garmin\SQL)
