Hello,

I will be going to the US soon and I need a USA .img file for my Garmin for when I'm driving around. I know there are maps available here:

But I've got no idea how to unlock them or how to combine the different parts into one .img file. If anyone can point me towards and idiots guide tutorial or provide me with the maps, I'd really appreciate it.

I've got a 65gb sd card so size isn't really an issue.

First of all you didn't mentioned your device in order to tell you what files you need!
Second if you download the gmaprom.img in zip file from the link that you mentioned it should be unlocked otherwise we will help you to unlock it. Download it rename it as gmapsupp.img and copy it on your SD on a \Garmin directory or \Map directory if your device support it.
Finally to our friend @tomojure torrents without seeds and pears is like does not exist and also the curent version for Amerika is 2017.20 not 10

Sorry, I forgot the most important piece of info. This is for a Samsung Galaxy S5 running Android. I already have the app running with a UK map, I just want to temporarily replace it with a USA map. As I understand it, the Android app should be able to use any of the maps available for the Garmin SatNav.

I have downloaded all five parts of the gmapprom_un and inside each zip is a gmapprom.img. I thought they needed to be unlocked but maybe not if you say they dont.

What I really need to know is how to merge all five parts into one. Is that what I need to do or have I misunderstood?

You just put all the parts on the same directory and when you will try to extract the last one all of them wii be merged in one gmapprom.img file!

what app are you using on your phone for garmin maps? do you have the APK for it?

I've tried extracting all the files but when I extract the second file I get the message 'gmapprom.img already exists, overwrite or rename'. I've tried renaming but all I get is five files labelled gmapprom(1).img, gmapprom(2).img etc and nothing happens when I extract the fifth file. Overwrite will obviously just overwrite so what am I doing wrong?

It is no need to unzip all the parts one by one only the last one !
I repeat you put all the parts in one directory and try to unzip the last one!
Once finished you have your file automatically all the parts are unziped.

Thanks kolokythas, I obviously misunderstood your original instructions. This was a lot more straight forward than I thought it would be, I now have it installed and I can browse through the map without any problems.

Just out of interest, there a lot of other files on that that map page and I’ve no idea what they are for. Do I want/need any of those?
