g2 Vision Chart TWO img files?

Hi All.

My g2 Vision Chart has TWO img files.

The chart is VUS512L, and contains an img file 512A and another one 512L.

Why two img files?

Do the new g2 Vision "HD" charts also have these two img files, or just one?

I have seen and read that the g2 Vision HD charts have the two img files.

I re-questioned it because I just received (Bought) an updated VUS512L and it only had ONE img file in it.

A 512L, but no 512A.

I am thinking I got a hacked chart image and the maker left out the 1' HD Contours.

It's a newer version and I wondered if something changed recently and Garmin started somehow combining the two separate img files.

I am going to question the seller about it. He is "supposedly" an authorized Garmin seller, but anyone can say that.

It was much cheaper than retail so maybe I could/should have been more suspicious.

Even MORE suspicious was the fact that the card he sent me had gimgunlock.exe on the card along with 3 other files I know don't belong on the card. Hmmmm ???? It's possible he used a "used" card. I don't know exactly how Garmin "Authorized" dealers produce cards, but I believe they download them from Garmin and then sell them.

Shouldn't a legitimate Garmin Chart card have an unlock code file or a gma file?

Yes, I will send you what I have for analysis.

I have not tried the chart in my plotter yet to see if it is truly unlocked, but if it is, they have also figured out how to bypass the locking scheme of the newest charts.

I only know of one person who had previously figured that out.

If this is an old chart with the edited header, it could be unlocked by any unlocker.

You are spot on AdmNelson. I can't wait to investigate the image in detail.

I just looked at the GMP files using GmapTool in the "details" and the date is 25.7.2014.

Only 3 years older than now.....

So I guess I have been ripped off !

I assume the GMP date should be at least 2016 or 2017 ?

As expected, you've been spoofed. HD charts began to be issued in late 2016.

Yes, I've been duped.

This chart I just bought is supposed to be v2017 v18.50.
