I'm trying to find updated UK maps for a 2003 Corolla. From a few web searches, it appears to be a "Gen 1" system. The map disc I have at the moment has the following details.

2004 - 2005 Ver.1

Yes, I think also that the larger drive will receive 40Gb capacity after cloning. Actually I dn't understand why you need bigger size? Toyota will ensure, that the maps will fit into apropriate partition also in future, there is no way to upload more music using mp3s.

I have Success with an LiteOn iHAS 124B.iXtreme burner Max.
Newest ImgBurn, Speed 6x, Verbatim DVD+R MCC-004-00 and TDK DVD+R MBIPG101-R05-01, all Settings Standard, only set Book Type to DVD-Rom.
Toyota Avensis 2008, TNS 700 B9010.
Used ultraiso to cut noneeded countrys.
I must disconnect the Battery for 2-3 Min and then the TNS was updated and all works.
