Just to clarify, what is the exact model of your GoPal--there are different ones floating about in this thread?
Not to step on any toes--FBF's Universal Shell is probably the same or better than Pez--but if you WANT Pez, and your GoPal is compatible with mine, I can bundle it up for you and provide a download so all you have to do is copy to your flash memory--would be all ready to go with apps and paths (which you might need to adjust depending where you want things installed).

My Medion is The P4440 (MD98530). Running CE 5.0, he has FM transmitter and BT option, so very disappointing to not can use them with Primo. Some users (like Fatboyfun) can obtain a menu with BT or TMC (TTS?) options available, but I don't. I've customized my sys.txt, but unsuccessful.
My problem is that I can't (except with Miopocket) run only CE, without nav application. I never could kill Gopal with Universal Shell, so the GPS port is already occupied. The difference between Gopal and Primo is that Primo has a close button, and Gopal no. So not necessary to keep a taskbar visible to come back to CE.
The TMC tool seems not useful, I've tried it today without SD. And the BT is a gadget not necessary.
With Pez, how to obtain the start menu of CE for example? Or a keyboard?

Have you tried renaming/moving the files as posted in post #23?

Because it seems the later Medion devices need to run the original Menu.exe and Audiomanager.exe to start some device drivers, On earlier Medions like mine, none of that was necessary, just replacing Menu.exe was enough.

If your device does not have the WinCE desktop installed then PNA Desktop can be used instead.

I'll try the procedure asap, but a backup of the renamed files is necessary...

That is the exact same model as mine, and I have everything working (except Bluetooth which I don't care about).
So if you do all the renaming/copying as I did, everything should work.

All those are actually present in the GoPal default Windows install--just hidden from access. Pez GPS Menu (and others) simply provide the necessary shortcuts within the Menu interface pages.
But before you do anything, you need to get rid of MioPocket, seriously, and do a Hard Reset.

Miopocket installs or modify some files in the internal flashdisk? If yes, what to remove. I've seen a Mioautorun folder at the root of the internal memory. May I delete it?

5) I create a shortcut on the desktop or configure an autorun for opening Primo after boot.

Miopocket has a "Uninstall" option somewhere, Which removes all it's files from your device. Then do a hard reset to reset the registry.

The best way to backup your device is to use Windows explorer on your PC, but first turn on "Show hidden files" and turn off "Hide system files", Reboot your device so the first menu screen is shown, then connect your device to your PC and copy everything to a folder somewhere safe on your PC, Activesync/WMDC is terrible at large file transfers, So it's sometimes better to copy items across one at a time.

Not sure if it applies to your device but on my older Medion there is a file in the root of My Flash Disk called "Config.sys," this contains the screen calibration settings, Copying this file to my PC, then deleting this file from the device and rebooting the device forces Windows into screen calibration mode before it looks at the files on My Flash Disk, This allowed me to get system files on and off the device without Windows complaining.

Just copy it back and reboot to return to normal.

I will make this as simple as possible for you which will give you the EXACT same setup as I have--if you don't like the "Menu", you can change it to whatever you want later after you understand how it all works.
Get this:

And put all the files exactly as indicated in the folders. Just overwrite what you have. That way, you don't have to follow the rather complex copying/renaming/moving procedure. And don't worry about backing up--if you ever want to revert to the way it was, everything is still there--nothing has been deleted--you would just need to follow the Rename/Move/Copy procedure in reverse. Or just ask me and I'll get you back.
Now...a couple things.
1) My menu configuration assumes Primo is on My Flash Disk in a folder "Primo" with an exe of "iGo.exe". If yours is different, you need to edit /GPS Menu/Config/GPS.ini and change this line (NewIni= \My Flash Disk\Primo\IGo.exe) with the path to your Primo. Such as "\Storage Card\Primo\Primo.exe" --or whatever it actually is.
2) You may need to free up some space on My Flask Disk by deleting any GoPal maps that you may never use (and don't worry--you have a full backup of all maps on the installation CD that came with the unit). If you free up enough space, there will be plenty of room to put your whole Primo folder (including maps) there for a nice tidy installation. Go to My Flash Disk/Navigation/MapRegions/ and delete any {country}.psf files you don't need.

There is no elegant way to exit the GoPal Navigation app (the unit assumes that is the only thing you ever run, so there is no "Exit"), so IF you decide to use it (by the icon in the Menu/GPS Page), you have to reset the unit with the button on top-middle--then everything will reboot and come back to the menu. But if you are like me, you may never run GoPal again after you get used to Primo. I keep GoPal there just because it would be a pain to get rid of it all.

Gopal 1,2 and 3 does have an exit button, i never used 4 or 5 though.

You can copy the Gopal "MapRegion" folder to a sd card and it works.

In 5.5 the "Main Shell" .exe shows two buttons: Navigation, and Settings. Nothing else. And you only get that after a boot. Once you rename something else to "menu.exe" in the root, that all goes away. Thankfully.
My only experience with GoPal is 5.5 and only that because it came with the unit. And I used it for almost a whole day.

It exits back to the main shell which had (from memory)

Navigation
Picture viewer
Music player
Berlitz travel guide (only had london and southampton for the uk in it)

But you could uninstall things to save memory and the icon would disappear, I remember feeling very proud of myself when i figured out how to add an icon to bring up the ce taskbar... lol

I try the files replacement asap, and keep the Primo folder on the sd for the moment.
But first, backup completely the internal memory.
Some processes are still in use, excepted the navigation folders.
Can I delete MioAutoRun folder (came from???, miopocket???) Miopocket was on the sd, so no idea if something modified in the internal memory.

Mio-Pocket may indeed have put files elsewhere on My Flash Disk. Best to use the Mio-Pocket uninstall option first, then hard boot, and delete anything leftover. Yes, the MioAutoRun is from Mio-Pocket.

I have copied your 2 folders Pez and deleted somme files.pss (I also deleted the corresponding folders called German, ...)
So, I've now a desktop with 3 shortcuts (orig Gopal, Gopal FM and Primo)
Everything all right, but at boot, I receveid a Gopal window "FM transmitter identified ..." I choose yes (green v) and the desktop appears.
In the Taskmanager, I see mnavdce.exe running. Is Gopal running in background? I killed the process via Taskmgr without visible change.
We spoke about BT, is it an access to enable the BT in Gopal without enter the application (like for Gopal FM)? edit: Yes, the app is named ANWDOG and is located in the Flashdisk/Bluetooth folder
Can the horrible green Medion Gopal splash be replaced by another?

It's not a 'desktop', it's a "Page", and you start on the page "GPS". I think you will find you have far more than 3 icons if you check out the other pages (Office, Games, Tools) across the top.

It's your choice if you want the FM Transmitter enabled or not. If you choose "No", it will not bother you again until you go into the the Settings (GoPal FM icon on the GPS page) and enable it (FM transmitter button--"Auto-Reactivate" means enable at every boot or at wake from sleep...also set your Frequency there).

No. No. No. IF you have replaced/copied all the files as instructed, AND you want everything working, do not kill any processes in Task Manager. Ever. They may not be what you think they are. Only PARTS of certain GoPal modules are running. And they are required for everything to work. Reboot now.

You spoke of BT. Not me. ;-) I don't have a single BT device, and have never tried to enable anything related to BT. If you want Bluetooth in Primo, you have to set it up there (if you have the icon for it).

I think that should be the least of your worries. And you won't see it very often. To tell you how to replace it may only confuse things that have nothing to do with getting everything working.
