VDO Dayton PN 1000 unlock?

Postby fran9127 » Sun Apr 01, 2012 12:10 pm

Can anyone please tell me is it possible to unlock this device and put some other software on it because I have been copying files to and fro the SD card for days now trying everything and the device is just dead. Doesn't respond to anything. I have the original 512 SC card that came with the device and I just bought a new 2 GB but I didn't try anything with it yet.

Thanks in advance!

Dead as in it won't turn on.
The thing is that everything was working fine and then I downloaded the update for the software from the VDO Dayton official site (which doesn't exist anymore -.-) and I guess I didn't do the update correctly because it kept going in a loop whenever I turned on the device it would start do go through the update processes.
And from then on I doesn't work.
I did try something with VDOService.exe but I'm not sure I'm doing the right thing...

If it won't turn on then I doubt you can do anything, did the update require you to place the device in an update or boot loader mode by holding down buttons while switching on?

I'm not really sure anymore. It only has 1 button to turn on and I didn't have to press and hold during the process if that's what you mean.
So there is nothing that can be put on the SD card for it to work Wolf NCU, MioPocket Mini or whatever? I'm not really good with this

Without being able to rule out battery issues, I would say the device is dead as all unlocking methods need the device to boot.

Yeah but the thing is I don't know what to put on the card for it to boot since I don't have the original software anymore.

I mean windows booting, this will be in ROM the gps software will be on the card, if the update process failed this may have corrupted the windows installation and if my memory serves me correctly the flashing procedure for this device is called from windows itself, so if windows doesn't boot then there's not a lot you can do.

Without having it in front of me, I would say it's dead and there's nothing you can do.
