HI Gents,

I have this becker z098 GPS which is a bit old. So i googled for new maps and found instruction on how to upgrade the maps. I downloaded igo primo. Removed Igo8 folder from internal memory left other 2 folders ( clm, nngstart ) , copied over the new primo folder to sd card and renamed the folder to iGO8 and renamed the primo.exe to IGO8.exe. Changed sys.txt file added 2 lines - this is what it looks like now -

Once disconnected from pc the gps said - insert sd card. I have restarted the device same error. Then i compared the files and folders between the backup igo8 and the new igo8 on the 8 gig microsd card and i copied over the folder and files that were extra in the old igo8 folder to the new one.

Still, no joy. Device says - insert sd card. Not sure what i'm doing wrong.

Little help will be greatly appreciated.

Does the device support SDHC cards?

If the original iGo8 version is how it came from Becker (stock), it may be that their version is permanently tied to the SD Card it came on.
Secondly, it may be that particular device cannot handle an SDHC card, and therefore does not (and may never) recognize it as being there.

But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

i had the same feeling, hence i tried a microsd card ( not sdhc ) - blank one - still came up with the same error. Those were the only card i had and was 2 gb but was showing 1.87 gb on pc. the map - primo - was 1.95 gb, so could not save it on the card b4 trying on the gps.

That's a [color="#FF0000"]lot[/color] of content...do you really need it all?
Primo, by itself, should only be 200-300 MB or so. Which would leave about 1.5 GB (on a 2GB card) for maps or voices, which would be a LOT of maps and voices!

But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Two things, the device could either still be looking for igo8 in the internal memory or the folder\filenames on the sd card are wrong for the device

Is there enough space on the internal memory to get primo minus the content installed? you can set up primo to look for the content on the sd card

HI guys -

I got primo working. it came up - i did all the settings - then went to look for maps..none was found..the primo folder i tried was only around 500 meg or something..then i copied maps over from a different primo to this one - came up license error - i copied over the license folde - no joy - then treid my old becker maps with the license folder - no joy.

I just then gave up and put everything back into as it was...

i didnt know that you can keep maps in sd card and get primo to look for it there...can you give me some instructions please..i am a novice when it comes to GPS..

one more thing...while i was downloading the primo app that had worked, the folder had loads of error says if you are seeing this you may need bitcomet..and the maps folder had only basemap.fbl in it.....thanks.

just downloading the 2 primo's that i found yesterday..one folder is 1.38 gb..other one 1.58 gb ..my becker takes 1.87 gb..

once i get instruction on how to setup the gps to read fromt he sd card and sort out the license..i will give it another go...

1. License and .exe go together. Official .exe = official license. Unofficial .exe = unofficial license. Got that?

2. NEVER overload your device or sd with unneeded contents! Only maps, languages and voices and all other files you really need. All what is more is overkill. A 2GB SD should be plenty for any full continent, a 1GB for daily use and even more.

downloaded anther version of primo - it has the following folder in the content folder :
building,car,dem,gloabal_cfg,histspeed,lang,map,phoneme,poi,scheme,speedcam,voice

do i need all of them for my becker z098 gps ? or just the map will do ?

the content folder is 1.9o in size and my sd card shows 1.87 in size : (

2. do i need to copy the license folder with the maps as well ?

3. also, how do i get the gps to look for maps and others in sd card ?
