brilliant it looks like i now have the maps and i have set the language to english thanks, is their something i need to do with the satellite gps settings

The settings for Binatone are usually... Other NMEA receiver, Baud 57600 and Com 7
Tomtom will crash when you get your first satellite lock, Just reboot and reload.
It can take up to 30 minutes before you get a satellite lock.
Depending on what country you're in you may need zip files.

ok brilliant i have gps lock although i have to select the Other NMEA receiver, Baud 57600 and Com 7

Sometimes the PDA version of Tomtom doesn't write any changes to it's settings file straight away, just holding information in RAM, like write caching, So if you just switch the device off the settings are lost, It will eventually update the file if you leave it long enough, or exit Tomtom through the menu.

aah, okay, one other thing (sorry for all the questions) i work for a cable company and they have a file with all the cabinet locations which only works on tomtom software, would i be able to load it on to mine ? and if so would in go on the sd card or in the maps folder or mobile navigator folder on the binatone and would i need to use the autoactive. many thanks again.

If it's a ov2 file then yes, Drop it and the corresponding bmp file into the map folder and restart Tomtom, No activation required.
This version of Tomtom will also do voices, speed cameras and mapshare updates (mapshare is tricky and requires some files to be copied to the device) But not advanced map features like computer speech, advanced lane guidance etc...

got the work cabs on, which is great, and i thought i would push the boat out and get the speed cams, they are showing in my POI as safety cam uk pre.. and they are ticked, but when i do a demo run past speed cam none show, is that right or do i need to tweak a setting. ( is it okay to ask on this thread or should i start another one?)

Are you using PGPSW cams or official Tomtom cams?

You need to patch the official Tomtom speedcams in the same way you patched the maps. Make a backup first just incase.
