i used autoactivate and used TTNavigator.bif then dropped then them in my maps file, they do show in POI,

I don't use them myself, but i think you patch them whilst they're inside the map folder, You only need to patch them once, upgrades can just be copied over the originals without patching again, And you go into Tomtom services to edit their settings.
