Binatone B350

Sun Jun 19, 2011 10:22 am

Is it worth putting tomtom software on a Binatone B350 ?

I've read how to do it, but have only just bought the sat-nav (they are selling them off cheap at ASDA) and don't want to break it or end up with an even slower device.

If it's WinCE5 then yes it's easy and runs perfectly.

If it's WinCE6 then no but in both cases iGO will run.

It tells you on the box what WinCE version is installed.

Its WinCE6.0 so i guess i need to find out more about this iGO software ?
Would it run better with the iGO software installed ?

200% better.

The original Turbodog software is hopelessly slow and was deleted from my B430 within an hour of purchase.

Hello matey, I had the same problem as you. It's wince6 you have on your B350, iGo works a treat but TomTom will work but crashes after around 30 seconds.

Make sure you backup the oriiginal files in the Resident flash area before you start messing around with it,

You don't need to edit any files on the residentflash drive to run igo but the device works fine without turbodog installed.

Hmmm, so i just need the software to run.
Any explanation of where to get it and how to install it would be nice. Thanks.

Main programme here
Not the latest version but a good place to start...

Download maps from here

Just download ONE map (*.FBL) for now and place into ..\Content\Map

Using Notepad on your PC, find and open the file called sys.txt and change the entries...

[gps]
Port=X
Baud=XXXXX

X could be any number
To
[gps]
Port=7
Baud=57600

Copy entire Primo folder to the ROOT of a SD card of suitable size (Max 2GB)

Open Notepad on your PC and type...

\SDMMC\Primo\iGO.exe

Assuming that the folder is called Primo and the exefile within is called iGO.exe, Edit if necessary.

Save as SHELL.ini (NOT SHELL.ini.txt, Double check!) and copy to ROOT of SD card

Place card into device and restart.

When the card is in the device the navigation button will load what the path in SHELL.ini points to, If the card is removed then the button will load Turbodog.

There may be more tweaks to make yet...

Couldn't get it to work.

I tried Primo 1.2 ans almost got that to work, but i think my screen res is 320 x 240 Pixel and don't know how to change screen res.

Try this version i took from my 320x240 device

http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?3558-iGO-Primo-1.1-8.5.11.155811-for-320x240-64MB-WinCE-4.2-devices.&p=21517#post21517

Follow the instructions in post #8

Thanks. I'll give that one a go later today on a different memory card. I did manage to get the 1.2 version working almost though and should be able to sort that with a bit of messing and some maps and poi's. All i had to do was change the screen size to 320_240 in the sys.ini

Thanks for your help.

Generic instructions + files required

Device specific instructions
Copy the navigator folder to the root of a SD card along with maps, AutoActivate and Postcode files if needed
Open Notepad on your PC and type...
\SDMMC\Navigator\Tomtom Navigator.exe
And save as SHELL.ini <- Check it's NOT SHELL.ini.txt
Copy SHELL.ini to SD card root
Restart device and tap OK then Navigation
Follow the instructions in the tutorial above...

GPS settings
Other NMEA receiver
Baud rate 57600
Com port 7

Removing the SD card and rebooting returns the device to it's original state.
