Ok, downloaded winRAR and when trying to extract the archive is says its password protected.

Do I just look for another file to download or how do I get the password?

The password is either http://www.navitotal.com or navitotal

I forget which one.

Great, thanks

Now I've got 2 files, Mobilenavigator and shell.ini

Do I just put these 2 files on the sd card?

Thu May 23, 2013 8:57 pm

Yes, don't forget the maps...

Thu May 23, 2013 9:14 pm

Right, I thought I would try the sd card in my sat nav with the both of the files loaded and it started to work and could see IGO 8 starting up etc so I know that works ok.

Just got to still down load the USA maps, but again still unclear on what to down load and what to do with it.

Sorry for all the stupid questions

I've looked through the list of maps, there are so may to choose. How do I know which is the right one?

http://www.navitotal.com/forumdisplay.php?82-Maps-buildings-dem-POI

There are USA maps available in this sub forum, when downloaded and extracted you will end up with several files.
The red sticky at the top explains what the files are for and where they go.

The least you need is maps (ends with .FBL), everything else is optional.

Maps and POI's for a minimal installation, or you can add dem and 3D buildings files for eye-candy, but uses more memory and cpu time.
Also look here for speedcams.

Copying the content files to the relevant folders on the sd card is all you need to do now!

Cheers.

Do I have to look for ones that specifically say IGO in the title or can I use one that say NAVTEQ in the title?

Thanks again

The link takes you to the iGO map sub forum, any US map will work.

Is that any of the US Map links or specific one?

I see two us map options on the first page, a torrent or direct from hosting sites, use whichever downloads easier for you

Fri May 24, 2013 7:48 am

Right, just clicked on "US/CANADA NAVTEQ 2012.Q4 - Direct Download" is this the correct one for IGO 8 and once thanked gives me 3 .rar map files to down load, which I'm downloading now.

So once downloaded, I then extract the archive files which give me a number of files and then put these files in the locations as advised on the red sticky?

Is that correct?

Fri May 24, 2013 8:34 am

Yes, I would just put the maps .fbl and pois .poi in first and test, note that not all the files in the archives are relevant to iGO 8, some are IGO primo only

Fri May 24, 2013 9:15 am

ok, cheers. I'm at work at the moment so can't extract any files (work pc locked down) so just getting a clear understanding for when I get home tonight.

So for example the red sticky its states -

--> the directory *\content\map\
fbl --> Maps
fda --> Driver Alerts
fpa --> Adress points (house numbers)
ftr --> Truck Info
hnr --> Programmed long routing (international)

So once I've got the extracted files, I access the SD card, open MobileNavigator, open Content, open Map then put the files in there?

Is this correct?

Really appreciate your help and your patience with all these questions

Another question.

I extracted the files for the maps and POI and then put a copy of the map I wanted and POI into folders as per the red sticky. I then turned on the sat nav and all worked ok. Found the airport and place were I will be staying.

In "US/CANADA NAVTEQ 2012.Q4 - Direct Download" its says I need to download all 3 parts of the maps, but when you open each of the extracted parts (e.g. part 1, Part 2, Part 3) the map I am after is in all 3 parts, the titles are all the same so not sure if I have to put all 3 copies of the map on my SD Card or just use one from say Part 1?

Also for DEM is has 2 different names - CGIAR or NASA. Whats the difference and does it matter which one I use.

Hope this makes sense and thanks again for your help.
