.fsp files are Speed Profiles for a road and are used for smart routing. They go in the map folder.

way318 wrote:Another question.

1, I extracted the files for the maps and POI and then put a copy of the map I wanted and POI into folders as per the red sticky. I then turned on the sat nav and all worked ok. Found the airport and place were I will be staying.

2, In "US/CANADA NAVTEQ 2012.Q4 - Direct Download" its says I need to download all 3 parts of the maps, but when you open each of the extracted parts (e.g. part 1, Part 2, Part 3) the map I am after is in all 3 parts, the titles are all the same so not sure if I have to put all 3 copies of the map on my SD Card or just use one from say Part 1?

3, Also for DEM is has 2 different names - CGIAR or NASA. Whats the difference and does it matter which one I use.

Hope this makes sense and thanks again for your help.

1, Excellent
2, Put all the archives in the same directory, Extract Part 1 only, WinRAR or 7Zip will find and extract Parts 2&3 automatically, extracting separately will result in errors.
3, It's just who provided the landscape data, i would imagine they're similar.

Also remember that not all the files are for iGO 8, some are Primo only.

Ok cheers, finally got something right.

Question on No.2 - I did put all the archives in the same directory. I then extracted part 1 and saved it to a new directory. So should I saved the extracted file in a new directory or saved the file in the same place as the archive? From the new folder/directory I then copied the map I wanted e.g. USA_Florida_83_NQ_2012.Q4_130313.fbl onto the sd card.

Question on No.3 - so it doesn't really matter which one I use?

When you have archives that are split into parts, it is really just one archive chopped up, that's why you have duplicated files, extract part 1 only and the rest will follow automatically, It doesn't matter where you extract to.

I'm not in the US so i don't know which is best, all dem (demographic) files are are landscape data, ie hills, valleys etc, Looks pretty but is optional, and consumes a lot of RAM and CPU time.

Think I understand now, So I download all 3 parts of the archive and save them all in a directory, I then just extract part 1 and save it were ever it like and because parts 2 & 3 are done automatically I don't need to extract these. I then put the extracted file into the map directory on the SD card.

The reason I got duplicate .fbl files is because I extracted all 3.

Within the extracted file there are some files called "Easy", "Economical", "Fast" & "Short", these are .hnr files. Are these needed on the SD card?

In POI there are 2 files and the difference between the 2 is that one states "Extended", do I need to put both on the SD card or just one of them.

I've put all the software and maps on a 1gb card, what's the max size the F430 will take. As I've got a 4GB card I could use instead.

Thanks again for all your help, I know I've been a real pain with all these questions.

1, These are pre-processed routes for long distance travel, They only cut down planning time, and they are Primo only, so leave them out.

2, You must have the 'normal' poi before the extended one will work, I don't know if iGO8 supports extended POI, put both in and see.

3, Binatone devices used to support up to 2GB cards, Newer versions support SDHC which is up to 32GB, Clone the 1GB card onto the 4GB and try it, it either works or it doesn't.

I travel tomorrow so you will be glad to know that I won't be posting any more stupid questions. But, your help has been really appreciated.

So finally:-

No.1 - I will leave these out.

No.2 - I have both the normal and extended on the card and it seems to work ok.

No.3 - I have cloned the 1GB onto the 4GB and it works ok, but will take the 1GB with me as a back up.

Thanks again.
