Postby navmatt » Mon Aug 05, 2013 7:15 pm

Hi i have just been given a binatone g500 but it wont boot up the navigator when i tap the icon. I have connected it to my pc an there is no MobileNavigator folder. What do i need to do to get it to work like it was out of the box/

Thanks Matt

Forget the original software, it's rubbish, put iGO primo on it instead.

Then you need to find someone who hasn't deleted the original software and is willing to upload it for you.
I don't believe it's software locked to the device so any backup should work.
I think it's unlikely though.

Yes, make a text file on the card called SHELL.INI (not SHELL.INI.TXT!)
This file needs to contain the path to the TomTom executable...

\SDMMC\Navigator\TomTom Navigator.exe

Modify if it's different on your card.

If you do this correctly, then TomTom will start when navigation is tapped.

Would this be an official TomTom card with TTN6 on it?

Right, Binatone's are easy to work with, I prepared a guide that gives all the info you could need...

http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?6936-Guide-to-Binatone-devices

It includes downloads optimized for these devices.

There is no difference in software running from the internal memory or the sd card, but running from a card its easier to manage as transferring large files (ie,maps) via activesync is a pain.

The only way i can get it to work by tapping the navigator icon is to turn it on without the sdcard in an then put it in then it will work. Plus the only wany i can get the sat nav to turn on is to plug powr in to it as the button will not turn it on but it will turn it of is this a software problem or a faulty button?

I would suspect the battery for the power on problem, and are you saying the navigation button works after the sd card is inserted?
