In the map folder there is the file "United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-309.meta.dct".

The Navigator folder (renamed MobileNavigator) is on the SD card.

I was trying to get the Europe maps and when I couldn't get them to work, that was when I thought I'd follow the instructions you gave to the person who was trying to get the UK and ROI maps and if I go that working, I'd go for the Europe ones!

Will the 865 maps not work? Could that be the problem?

Fri Jul 08, 2011 6:04 pm

I currently use UK & ROI 870.3417 on devices i upgrade myself, although i had previously 865, 860 etc.

Confirm the map files (cline.dat etc) are only in one folder from the root and not two.

Fri Jul 08, 2011 6:09 pm

Yes, cline.dat and the other .dat files are only one folder down from the root.

What would be the best (easiest) way to get it working for Europe including UK? Would it be easiest to "start over"? Should I start the (painful!) process of downloading the 870 maps for Europe anyway?

I would try to get the UK & ROI maps working first, Is your device WinCE 5 or 6, it says on the box.

Fri Jul 08, 2011 6:33 pm

I don't know which version and I don't have the box any longer, I'm afraid. On the back of the unit it says "X350 2nd edition" if that helps?

Start from the beginning...

Download these four files...

Tomtom Navigator 7.450
AutoActivate

Map UK & ROI 870.3417

Extract everything and arrange onto a SD card like this...

[b]\SDMMC\Navigator\Tomtom Navigator.exe + other files/folders.
\SDMMC\AutoActivate.exe
\SDMMC\ZIP\Great_Britain.postal + Great_BritainPostal.ver
\SDMMC\United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_870_3417\Cline.dat + other files.

Open Notepad on your PC and type...
\SDMMC\Navigator\Tomtom Navigator.exe
Save as SHELL.ini NOT SHELL.ini.txt <- Double check this!

Copy to the SD card as well...

\SDMMC\SHELL.ini

Reboot your device and tap OK then Navigation.
Tomtom will start and complain about map activation error. (In French)
Copy everything off the SD card to the root of a USB memory key or the root of a local drive and run AutoActivate.exe
Wait until it reports it has finished and then copy everything back, Overwriting where necessary.

Tap Navigation again...

Fri Jul 08, 2011 9:31 pm

Thanks, it's all underway. When should I rename the folder and .exe to MobileNavigator?

Fri Jul 08, 2011 9:37 pm

You don't, The file SHELL.ini tells the device what to run

Fri Jul 08, 2011 10:43 pm

I've copied the files across and then rebooted the device and tapped OK then Navigation.
But nothing happens - i.e. Tomtom doesn't seem to start.

Fri Jul 08, 2011 10:53 pm

I've just changed the Navigator folder name and the .exe to MobileNavigator and I get the .bif file and the error in French.

Sat Jul 09, 2011 12:09 am

I continued with your instructions only with the change in folder and .exe name changes.

And now I get voice in English but screen menus in French! How do I change it to English?

Sat Jul 09, 2011 12:18 am

However... when I restart the Satnav, after I press Navigation I get the TomTom splash screen and then it doesn't go to the map but returns to the page offering Navigation or Menu. Pressing Navigation again does nothing.

There's always one device... :bomb_mini:

I've read that the X350 is the exception to the rule and you should be using TTN 7.910...

[Please Register or Login to download file]

Passwords: navitotal

Replace the (Mobile)Navigator folder with this one, Rename if you have to, You may need to reactivate your map once the .bif files are generated.

... and I've got that one device...

Anyway, I've installed TT7.91 and run it first time - "No maps found" in Polish! Just transferring files to then run AutoActivate and then copy the files back...

Thanks for your persistence...

Hi,

I've put all the files on the Satnav and I get the TT splash screen and then it just returns to the "Navigation/Menu" screen.
